Doctor's appointment and bed rest...

I am 0% dilated, 50% effaced, and at -1 station. I know that does not really mean much. But, it got me really excited!

Then my doctor took my blood pressure. I have high blood pressure. Uh oh! I had to get some blood work done to make sure I do not have pre-e. For now I have to be on bed rest the days I do not work. I only work 3 days a week so the other 4 am in bed. We find out the results later this week then go from there.

Which means no more walks for me. I have been walking my dogs and it has made me feel so much better to get some exercise. But I will do what it takes to make sure Aspen is taken good care of, and if that is bed rest, then bed rest it is.

Re: Doctor's appointment and bed rest...

  • I'm right there with ya on bed rest... got put on it today, except I'm 3cm dilated, 50% effaced and at a 2 station...

I'm also out of work for good. She wants the little one to stay in there til at least the 37 week mark, and I don't blame her. We need a full term baby, not a preemie!

I work 3 12's a week, and for the last week its been killer. So I'm glad to get out of work now.. but this bedrest thing is hard.. I always walk the dogs too-- they're now done for and will have to cope without walks, this should be interesting considering they are extremely routined..

  • This is exactly what happened to me today. I am 0cm dilated and 70% effaced- same as last week but this week my blood pressure is a lot higher and they also took my blood and the doctor told me that when I am not at work I have to be laying down with my feet elevated. I'm glad to know I am not the only one!

  • This was me yesterday and when I posted, there were several others on here who were also in the exact same predicament.  I'm 0cm, 50% effaced and -2 station.  My bp went back to normal during my NST (which was also normal), but the dr sent me home and isn't allowing me to go back to work.  I'm trying to relax and lie around but there's a lot to do at home, too, so I'm just trying to do small amounts at a time and keeping an eye on my BP, which has been normal since my NST.
  • Exact same thing happened to me yesterday!! I went to the doctor to seek relief from this horrible sinus infection I have and mentioned that the baby seemed quiet over the last few hours. They did a NST and baby looks great! But, my BP is high and staying high....in the 140-150/80-100 range, so doc sent me home on "home rest". No work, no real household chores, just taking it easy. I've already gotten through a book and am trying to do some continuing education reading, but am going a bit stir-crazy. I'm 37 weeks today, so anytime baby wants to come is ok with me! Good luck and here's to healthy babies!
