First of all. Let me say this is a post and run. I wanted to catch it when a lot of the ladies were on, and i'm not 100% sure when i'll be home. So sorry for this.
I've never had a UTI before, so i'm not really sure what they feel like even though I have an idea.
Normally I can go to the bathroom once in the morning... by noon I'll go again (but usually never because "i have to" but because "I know i'll have to later when I can't go") and then not again till I get home from work.
Today, mid morning I had to go... and I had to go bad. As soon as I was done peeing it felt like I had to pee again. That feeling did go away... until the next time I peed at noon. Then around 2pm, the need to pee badly hit me again. So I ran and once again I had that same feeling of needing to pee again as soon as I was done. So the feeling comes and goes. Is this what a UTI feels like?
My second question, when I call my doctor tomorrow about it. Do I call my OB/GYN or my PCP?
Are there any other symptoms that come with UTIs?
Re: UTI - Need Help
In my experience with them the urge to pee really doesn't go away at all. It's like a burning sensation along with the urge to pee. I take AZO when I feel one coming on but I am not how it goes along with TTC so I would ask your DR for sure. Either one of them should be able to help you. Also 100% cranberry juice also helps. I hope you feel better very soon!

I've only had one in my entire life but the urge to pee never subsided for long with me. There was a stinging sensation too. Not pleasant at all. Your symptoms kind of sound like they could be a UTI but maybe it hasn't gotten all that bad yet. Definitely worth checking with your doctor on though and I second the cranberry juice rec. Just don't get one with added sugar because that can make things work. You need to find a 100% juice version.

I think I did have one before. I went to my regualr doctor and she gave me something and told me to drink cranberry juice. I remember it burning when I peed and the constant feeling of having to pee.
I hope you feel better soon!
Ugh, count yourself blessed that you've never had one!! With mine, its very frequent urge and only a few drops come out even though you feel like you have gallons in there.. burning like FIRE! Like makes your eyes water kinda burn.
You may also experience low-grade fever, LBP, cloudy looking urine, slight crampy feeling..
For relief overnight you can start yourself on some OTC AZO (it'll turn your pee orange - found by the yeast infection stuff), this is the pain reliever but you'll likely need an antibiotic from the doc.
For preventative measures try any or all of these: cotton undies (full booty), proper hygiene & cleansing (wipe front to back), unscented/gentle/sensitive detergent, sensitive soap, no baths - showers only, void after intercourse (I know this is anti-TTC)..
I hope you find relief! Big hugs to you!
ETA: frequency=needing to go pretty much AS SOON as you're off the toilet. And in my experience, the cranberry doesn't help cure but does help prevent..I used to take the cranberry pills cause the straight up 100% cran juice was a little much for me!

I've had 2 UTI before....thankfully it's been over 7 years since I last had one. From what I last remembered, the need to pee doesn't go away, and it will hurt to pee. There is a burning sensation. There might even be some blood in your urine....but not much at all. Def. call your dr. so that they can give you antibiotics for it. In the meantime, AZO and cranberry juice will add relief, but it's only a temporary fix. If you do indeed have a UTI, only antibiotics will take care of it.
I hope you feel better!

I had no pain, no burning, no symptoms at all except the urge to pee all the time, but I had been peeing every hour while pregnant so I assumed my uterus was still pushing on my bladder and that was why. My doctor just found it in a routine check they did and let me know, otherwise I never would have thought I had it. I always thought it was very painful so I never suspected I had one just from the frequent peeing. So anyway yeah it could be, I guess not everyone has pain.
I would either check with your doctor or go get one of the test kits at the drugstore.
All of this -- I've had a good number of these in the last 20 years, and frequency, urgency, pain (burning) and pressure are the hallmark signs.
Get the AZO tonight (you will feel LOADS better as it sort of anesthetizes the bladder), drink plenty of water, get some "real" cranberry juice in the fridge, and take some Tylenol.
Tomorrow, call your Dr. If this is a new thing for you they will probably want you to go give a urine specimen. They'll give you a course of antibiotics and you'll feel like a new woman in a few days.
Keep in mind that the AZO makes you feel better, but does not clear up the infection. Be sure to get the antibiotics for that -- there is really no other way to knock it entirely.
((Hugs)) and so sorry you are experiencing this!

Motherhood is not for wimps
I've only had one and (thankfully) caught it really early on so I skipped the painful parts.
My main symptom was a dull, achy discomfort. It was constant, and I just knew in my gut that something just wasn't right. There also was a discharge that was different than I'd ever had too. I went to my Primary, but I think you could go to either. They dx me with a pee test, took all of 5 mins (was e-call that morning when the ache was still there, I was about to fly x-country for a week...bad timing for a UTI!).
Call and get it checked, can't hurt. Oh & antibiotic they prescribed was a pretty intense one. Turned my pee neon!
ETA: The relief from the meds was felt pretty quickly. Also, AF was a few days late for me that cycle...the exact number of days late that I'd felt pain from the UTI.

i have had many uti's, but was diagnosed last year with something called interstitial cystitis, which feels like a uti all year round!
the one thing i'll add about the symptoms (normally the urge to pee often, but only getting a few drops out at a time), is if you are in the 2ww, don't take the azo---only b/c the drug in it (i was told by my urogynocologist when i found out i was pregnant last summer) is a cat D...b/c of my condition, i take the azo for mild symtpoms when i have a flare (meaning i feel like i have a uti), and for more severe symtpoms i take a more concentrated dose.
i think the safest route b/c you are in the 2ww is the cranberry juice and water (i would alternate drinking 1 glass of cranberry juice, 1 glass of water for 2 days until i got to my dr). again, i found the ob/gyn was more helpful than my pcp for a uti!
GL and feel better!
