At my past few OB appointments I was measuring a week or so behind. My OBs (I rotate through 3 different OBs in the practice) assured me that it was fine and it was probably just the position of the baby. They also said with my body frame it's perfectly normal to have a baby that's closer to 6lbs (dd was 7lbs 6oz). He has dropped in the past week so it made sense to me that the measurements could be off but I was still a bit concerned.
At my appointment today I was only measuring 35 weeks. My OB is sending me for an u/s on Friday but she doesn't seem very concerned. He's moving around just fine and his h/r is good so those two things are reassuring but I still can't stop worrying. On top of that it was a year ago yesterday that we lost our baby and I know that is adding to my stress and anxiety. I just want my little guy to be healthy and to make it through the next few weeks without any complications.
Re: Trying not to worry but measuring behind has me stressed out!
My sister measured 4 weeks behind until around 29 weeks, then went to 2 weeks behind and stayed between 1 -2 weeks behind the rest of the time. Same thing...extra appts and ultrasounds. But nothing was ever wrong. She delivered perfecty normal and healthy at 37 weeks (just by chance, not complications). He daughter is 3 now and perfectly normal.
In our situation I know every little radar blip is like a fire alarm, but really this should be nothing!

I know how scary it can be when the doctors say that anything is the slightest bit off... I measured behind starting around 33 weeks. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound, which freaked me out. I believe I was measuring about 2 weeks behind. She said it could be because I'm a fairly small person, so the baby could just be small. Or it could just have been her position. I went to the ultrasound, and the technician all but laughed at my doctor. As soon as she turned on the machine, she said "she looks perfect." She took some measurements and she was actually measuring a few days ahead. So either the measurements were off, or it was just the way I was carrying.
DD was 10 days early and weighed 6 lbs 11 oz, so had I gone full term she probably would have been just around 7 lbs.
Try not to worry (easier said than done!)... I'm sure everything is fine!!
Hope this can ease your mind a bit. I was measuring a few weeks behind with Katie too. At 32 weeks the OB sent me in for an u/s (I was only measuring 30 weeks) and I was so worried. Turns out that not only was she perfectly healthly she was actually big and on u/s measuring ahead. She was just positioned in a way that my fundal height was small. She was born at 8lb 10oz at 39 weeks so clearly she was not small!! Try not to stess (I know easier said than done). I hope everything is ok!
I can understand how you would be worried, but I don't even think they were measuring me at that point anymore. Just because so many things can vary. I hope the ultrasound calms your fears! You are so close.
I can't wait to hear about your little guy!
(I know today must be hard for you. I'm sorry! Hopefully you can sneak in a few extra cuddles with H. Thinking about you.)
When he drops, you can lose a few weeks/cms. So it could definitely be that. Try to think of the u/s as getting a sneak peek at him just a little while before he gets here.
Did they check you for leaking fluid?

I know it's hard, but try not to worry! If your OB is anything like mine, she would tell you if she was concerned. My OB does not sugarcoat things.
Thanks for the reassurance! Hearing other experiences with measuring small and having normal full term birth weight babies makes me feel a lot better. I feel like the reasonable side of me is in a fight with the worry wart side. I was hoping they could schedule the u/s earlier but the earliest they had was Friday. I called DH right after the OB appointment and I could hear the concern in his voice which got me more worked up and as soon as we got off the phone I started crying (thanks pg hormones)! I just keep reminding myself that he's moving around and I can feel how low he is so it all makes sense.
LisaMarisa - They didn't check to see if I was leaking. I guess I'll find out on Friday if my fluid is low. I don't feel like I am but is it something I'd be aware of if it was a slow leak?
I'm getting very excited to meet this little guy and can't wait to see what he looks like and learn all about his little personality:)
Clomid M/C 8 weeks 2/08 *IVF #1-DD born 3/09
*Surprise BFP-T18 baby lost at 13w 1/10 *FET #1-DS born 2/11
My DD was measuring behind and was 2-3 weeks behind around 33 weeks, so we got an u/s - and my fluid was low. They ended up just following me for the next 6 weeks with weekly u/s and NSTs (which would have been more fun if I didn't have to stress about what to do with DS during these appointments). At 38 weeks, I had an u/s where the fluid was *normal* and the estimated weight of DD was 7lbs 8ounces. (She had been measuring small and I was consistently having low fluid). So we went with it, didn't check again, I went into labor at 39 weeks, and had plenty of fluid come out when my water broke! Then DD was born and weighed 6lbs 15ounces. So at least they got part of it right
Good luck, I am sure everything is fine! And you are so close - he will be here before you know it!
