How are you eating?

-And I mean that in a how well are you eating way.

I'm eating like crap. I feel like when I'm hungry I can't eat either because LO needs to nurse or I just have no appetite and can't force myself to eat. I'm losing weight quickly, which I suspect is partly because I'm not taking in enough food, but DH gets mad at me because I feel sick to my stomach when I try to eat. (Been drinking lots of Ensure to make up for it, but still...)

Anyone else?

Re: How are you eating?

  • I didnt have much of an appetite for about 2 almost 3 weeks after my lo was born. I wasnt hungry i had to force myself to eat because i didnt have any urges to want to eat and i did lose alot of weight up until the 3 week mark i went in yesterday for my 6 weeks check up and gained back 5 lbs because now i'm like always hungry. Hopefully that helps and letting you know your not alone and for me it went back to normal.

  • I'm all over the place. Breakfast is a crapshoot because LO is always awake and squirmy then. I usually manage a decent lunch of leftovers and dinner is decent. I was eating waaaaaaay too much sweet stuff but then I got thrush so I'm going on a sugar detox for the next two weeks. Hopefully that will help me kick the last 8 pounds.
  • The first week or two I was eating good stuff and not too much of it.  This last week my appetite has kicked in and I am craving crap.  Not good!

  • I'm eating like crap, too. The first 2 or 3 days PP I was absolutely ravenous. Now it seems like the only times I get hungry is when I am busy feeding DD or trying to squeeze in 30 minutes of sleep, then the urge goes away by the time I get a second to eat. When I do eat I loose my appetite really fast.

I am steadily loosing weight & stretchmarks are showing up everywhere because it's coming off so fast, I suppose. I dont know if my loss of appetite is from depression or just sheer exhaustion. I do feel bad because my breast milk is probably lacking due to my poor nutrition. :(

  • I never have time for breakfast, but by the time lunchtime rolls around, I'm ravenous and eat utter crap all day.  So much for weight watchers...

  • I'm finally getting back into a better routine with eating, but up until the past few days it's been a bit of a crap shoot.  Like you said, not much of an appetite or too busy nursing, changing, soothing etc.  Luckily people have been bringing us a ton of food, so other than the poptarts, chips, and other snacky crap I've been putting down there have been some nutritious dinners in there.  Idk, it has been getting easier to plan some healthier meals now that E is on a more consistent schedule and I'm better at figuring out what he needs.

  • I have no appetite. I am only 1 week 4 days PP, but I haven't had an appetite since Nora was born. I pretty much forced myself to eat in the hospital, and had a few times there when I actually was hungry. Now that I'm home, I'll start eating dinner or something, and then get full after a few bites. It's a good thing I'm not nursing, or Nora would be getting nothing from me! On the good side, today's scale weight said that I am back to my prepregnancy weight.

Wow, go you! I'm still 10 lbs off, but was happy to see that I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans on Tuesday. (They were a bit snug, but it was still victory to me!)

  • Not great. I finally gave up on breakfast and just boughtr a box of instant breakfast. If nothing else I can gulp that down quickly.
  • I've been eating well, but I'm far enough PP that I have a 'system'.

After her last feed before bedtime (around 10pm), my H will take her for cuddletime, and I'll prep food for the next day... put in water and coffee in the coffeemaker, cut up fruit & veg for breakfast and at least two snacks portioned into baggies, make sure the Brita is full, etc.  Initially I was having poptarts constantly because it was easy to grab, but now it's just as fast to grab a bag of sliced up apples.  He also takes her before dinner so I can cook, and since I find cooking comforting it's a good way to unwind.

  • I, too, eat like crap. And not a lot of crap either - I'm usually hungry. When I sit down to eat is when LO wants me! I'm amazed that other PP with a LO about my same age has a system - I'm all over the place! I can barely get a shower in...sometimes I wonder if I'll EVER get a system!
