Just curious how much BM are you leaving with your caregiver and how long you are away from LO? Do any of you add a bottle of formula and an extra feeding if you don't have enough milk?
My LO is away from me for about 9 hrs and is taking 20oz. The DC staff says she still looks hungry for more. My supply has been going way down since I returned to work last week. I am going to try the Motherlove herbal supplements to see if I get results.
Thanks!
Re: Working moms w/ 3 mo olds...
LO is away from me for about 11 hours (7a-6p). I pump at 6 a.m. and send whatever I get to daycare for them to feed him (he usually sleeps until it's time to leave). On top of that bottle I send 3 5oz bottles for him to eat every 3 hours. It seems to be enough for him. I am pretty much pumping exactly 15oz in 3 pumping sessions at work. I haven't had to supplement yet, but I'm just barely getting what I need. I have some fenugreek on the way, so hopefully that will help.
ETA: I leave about 10oz of frozen at daycare in case they need it above what I send. They haven't used it yet.
When DD was 3 months old, she took about three 4 ounce bottles of BM while I was at work (~9 hours apart). I BF right before taking her to daycare and first thing when I got home with her. I always send an extra 5 ounces to daycare just to be on the safe side.
I have also pumped right before going to bed (after BFing DD) to get any little last bit out of me. There also have been a couple times when I woke up 2am to pump (DD was STTN already).
Good luck! Definitely try some remedies to increase your supply (water, oatmeal, Fenugreek).
Please keep your LOs RF as long as possible
DS always had three 4 oz bottles in a 9 hr timeframe. I would feed him right before leaving for work and right when I got home.
20 oz is a lot! I would ask them why they think she "looks hungry for more." Does she take a paci?
The best thing for your supply is a lot of nursing, so if you can get her to nurse more at home than she drinks at daycare that would be best (even if it means in the middle of the night). She should be drinking about 20-30 oz a day total, so 20 oz in a 9 hr period leaves only 10 oz or less of nursing when with you. I would really try to reverse that. I know...easier said that done.
Good luck!
