Contractions ALWAYS last 60+ seconds?

Do contractions always last 60 or more seconds? Can they last only 30 seconds and be the real thing? Or are shorter ones just getting you ready for the real ones?

    Mine NEVER lasted 60 seconds.  I would get them anywhere between 7 and 15 mins and they only lasted 20 seconds sometimes.  Then my water broke so we went to the hospital and I don't think they every became regular.

    In birth class, we would use the 60 second as a practice, but was told it could be completely different with each woman.

    We were told that in the first stage of labor that it could be shorter then 60 seconds.
