I personally like to trim if it's been a while - don't want to have to have her deal with the "jungle".
Regrowth for me is like a regular bikini wax. I use tend skin to preven ingrowns... but I never get ingrowns on the "extra part" that's not done for the regular bikini.
Me: PCOs DH: Perfect!
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
I don't trim... even if it is bad. I am afraid of trimming too much and then there won't be enough to wax.
I used to go every 2-3 months (that would allow for everything to grow in). I have occasional ingrown hairs, but not too many. Regrowth is fine, over time the hair has thinned out, which is good!

I get a Brazilian every 8-10 weeks. I trim before I go. Regrowth can be itchy about a weel after .... but not always. Yes, do get a few ingrowns, on the outer parts around the bikini line area... could be due to underwear seam rubbing there? It still hurts everytime, the inner parts getting done that is.

I never bother trimming. When I was good about it, I'd go approximately monthly. I only go to one person because she's the only one with whom I haven't had any regrowth, itchiness, or ingrown hair issues.
I will say, though, that there is a product out there called Tend Skin that is awesome for avoiding some of the issues. Also, using a scrub with saracylic acid (sp?) is key. Exfoliation is the root of many regrowth issues.

When I was going, I trimmed if I had REALLY let it go. I never had a problem with ingrown hairs and, actually, I found I was never itchy unlike shaving where I can no longer shave that area at all because I get such a bad, itchy rash. And I agree that exfoliation is important as well, which is probably why I avoided ingrown hairs.
years ago I was a big fan of the brazilian. LOVED it! I have to be honest, the first one KILLS! OMG! the woman actually gave me a shot of whiskey to help me get through it. oy... but after that it was much easier (but never fun.) I would sometimes take a percocet (no joke.)
I went every 2-3 months with no trimming. hair grows back thinner and there is less of it (if you keep going.) fyi, I only got ingrowns when I shaved. these days I just get a regular old bikini wax.
go for it! the results were (ahem) fun!
