Don't like the new MW at my practice. She's dumb.

I saw her a couple of times before as a 'student', and now she's officially the new midwife.  I saw her today instead of one of the normal MWs that she sometimes takes appointments for.  Next week I'm seeing MY MW (I see everyone just in case they are at the birth), and I'm going to tell her how much I don't like the new one.  She just gives stupid answers to my questions...I feel like I know as much as her just from reading and the damn internet.  Plus she's socially awkward.  She looks at you intently, then when you finish talking and most normal people would say something in response, she just still looks at you and says nothing!  I feel like I need to tell her..."OK, now it's your turn to talk.  You say something."  It's ok if she's at my birth in addition to another MW, but I REALLY don't want her to be THE  midwife at my birth.

Vent over :)

  • LOL at the subject of this rant.  :)

I wish my nurse practitioner could deliver my baby.  I've only seen my doctor twice this whole pregnancy bc I always schedule evening appointments and that's when NP is there.  I don't have a problem with the dr, but I just connect more with my NP and she's awesome.  Also, I really have no idea who is going to deliver my baby.  I was told, "if you go into labor between 9 and 5, Monday through Friday, Dr. Baines will deliver you.  If not, it will be the on-call doctor, who is one of 5 rotating."  Um, ok, I'll try to deliver during business hours so my doctor who I've met twice can deliver me.  Otherwise, I get someone random who I've never met to experience the miracle of my first child's birth with me.  Grr.

  • I feel that way about all the L&D nurses I met the 3x I went. I'd kill to have my midwife deliver me, but alas it goes by rotation and delivering on the day she happens to be on duty is pretty slim chances.

  • There was a MW who used to work at the birthing center that was kind of like that. And guess who I got in labor-yup her! She was actually much better during my labor I think she just didn't do great in the clinic setting.
