Babies: 0 - 3 Months

my 2 month old is still awake!!!

He woke up at 7am this morning. He has yet to close his eyes today.

i have been trying the No Cry Sleep solution at night and he sleeps a 4 hours stretch and another 3 or 4 hour stetch which is great.

But I cant get him to nap during the day.  He is only 10 weeks so I know he needs at least a nap or two during the day.

It is 1pm here and he has been wide awake since 7am.

I am trying all the right things, watching for his tired cues, turning lights down low, shades closed, white noise, quieting any activity, vaccums, rocking him to sleep, etc.

I started at 9:45am this morning with making things quiet, lights down, soft music. He seemed drowsy and I was able to put him down in crib and he slept for 5 minutes before waking crying. I tried for another 45 minutes soothing him and re-rocking and trying everything but couldnt put him down without him crying hysterically.

So, i try again at 11:30am...with no luck. He seems sleepy in my arms, I am trying all the No Cry Sleep Solution techniques to put him down, and he just screams.

I gave up and brought him downstairs......He is sitting in his bouncy seat now wide awake having a ball playing, seems very happy.

This cant be healthy for him to be awake for so long, right? I am going to lose my mind!

  • My LO does the same thing...  she only naps a total of MAYBE 2-3 hours a day and that is in short 10-20 minute increments.  I don't know what to do.

  • Have you tried a swing or a vibrating bouncer chair?  My LO won't sleep flat on her back during the day so these 2 things help.  The vibrating bouncer is her fave!  Good Luck!

  • Story of my life!  I don't know what to do either!  Except DS is only happy/content when he is awake in the morning.  Past noon, he screams and cries most of the time, but won't sleep!  My dad's "helpful" advice was, "Don't worry.  He'll want to nap by the time he's 16."  Thanks, Dad.

  • I just posted kinda the same question... but his dad finally put him down, he had to literally closed his eyes...after walking for hours with the carrier, singing to him, playing soft music, changing his diapers a lot (just in case he is unconfortable), singing... u name it... hopefully he will get to sleep at least three hours.
