Success after IF

sigh. had to wear a bella band to work today

I think the dreaded weight gain from decreasing nursing/pumping has hit me. I've gained at least 5 pounds, probably 10, since Dec. I was trying to blame it just on holiday eating but I don't think that's it. All the pants that were loose on me a couple of months ago barely zip anymore. I'm so bummed that I have to start watching what I eat and exercising again (as if lifting 3 babies all day isn't enough exercise!). But I want to rock a bikini at the baby pool this summer so I guess I'll do what I have to do.

blech.

  • Hell, if you are in bikini range, you are in great shape!  I am not sure I will ever get to wear one again.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Oh I feel your pain...I still wear my bella band under some of my tighter dresses when we go out. Boo. I keep thinking I should just cave in and buy some spanx or something, but I guess I still have hope I can get this new weaning weight off. But my bella bands are most definitely still near the top of my underwear drawer. And it also appers as if my metabolism tanked over the last year and a half....because it has never been this hard to lose a few pounds!

  • Boo!  I am dreading this.  It was so miraculous to lose all that weight... and how are we going to find time to exercise!?!

Good luck-- and it will be amazing if you are in a bikini after having triplets!

WOMAN!! You have lost your mind!! I saw your picture last night!!! Seriously, you look great!

  • I know it's no fun in the beginning, but it will be so much better for you AND those babies to have healthy eating habits and a regular exercise routine. Make them a part of it--a triple stroller with 10 month olds can't be light!
  • ditto kimarino, i wish i was within sight of bikini range!

i wear bella bands too FWIW. :P

  • ugh!!  so, just to try and prepare myself...do you think its just because you are used to eating enough to feed three little people and then suddenly you don't have that calorie drain?  ugh ugh ugh.

I think that's a big part of it. I've always had a big appetite, but during pregnancy and bfing I got in the habit of eating lots of high fat foods "for the babies."

I'm only nursing a couple of times a day now so that's a big change from nursing and pumping 6-8 times a day.

I think I just need more fruits & veggies and fewer carbs.

I do wonder how much hormones have to do with it too. I'm hoping my IUD (mirena) isn't a factor.

And Duke'sgirl - yes, pushing 3 babies in a triple stroller while walking the dog in our hilly neighborhood is a serious workout! I can't wait till the weather is nicer and it stays lighter longer so I can do that more consistently.

Yeah, I was wondering about the hormones too!  I hope it just food related!  seems more controllable!
  • See, I was/am dreading this since I am weaning Sam now - but I think I cheated since I am going to gain weight anyway :)  Seriously though, breastfeeding was the best diet ever and I do worry that I'm going to pack on pounds as I cut out feedings.

Re: bella band - I never stopped using them.  Even when all of my clothes fit perfectly well or were loose, my shirts became suddenly too short with the nursing boobs, so the bella bands fill that gap.  The nice thing is, no one notices that all of a sudden I have another "layer" on.

LOL at "nursing boobs". None of my shirts fit right anymore! And I'm afraid I'm going to be a candidate for a national geographic photo shoot once they've completely weaned.
