Parenting after 35

Reassure me!

I just got home from work, and DH told me that Miller fell off of the changing table tonight.  Miller is sleeping now, so I don't want to wake him but I am freaking out. DH isn't sure how he landed.  I mean, how far away were you from him???  He said he cried but seemed to get over it quickly.  Should I take him to the pedi to have him checked?

Re: Reassure me!

  • Oh no! Poor Miller!

How long ago was it? They say that you shouldn't let them sleep for a while after having a big fall, but if he seemed fine not long after and if it happened a while ago  he should be fine.

Other than that I don't know what to say to calm your fears(I'd be a nervous wreck).

Sorry I'm no help. Left Hug

  • DD fell off the changing table when DH was changing her diaper.  This was probably a year ago.  I was a nervous wreck.  The nurse line had him check to make sure she was still walking around (able to move her limbs like normal), they wanted to know if she vomited and other than that said she was probably fine.

  • He is most likely ok but call your pedi and see what they say. They may ask you questions and tell you to bring him in to get checked, just in case.

  • Gracie fell off the bed a month or so ago. She cried for a few minutes then was fine. I never called the dr. but probably should have as precaution. Sorry I am not help. I would just listen to your gut as to how to handle.

  • Hopefully Miller is okay now!  I would call if he passed out for any amount of time, vomitted, or cried for an extended period of time.  Kids are much more resilient than we realize ; ) With any head falls I just try to keep them up for an extended period of time too.  My kids fall off everything!

  • Oh, no!  How is Miller and Momma this morning?

  • I hope Miller is ok.  How is he doing today?

  • It's bound to happen to every kid at some point.  I hope Miller's OK (and Mom and Dad too)!

When S fell at daycare, I called the doctor and they told me the same thing that Lawry13 posted above.

  • Michael fell off the table at the doctor's office.  I turned my back for a second to throw away a diaper and off he tumbled.  He was fine and my doctor and her husband (the office manager) reassured me by telling me all the times that their three year old fell off stuff and survived.  It is funny now, not so much then.

I hope that Miller is ok this morning.
