Success after IF

They can't sleep too much, right?

My daughter may be addicted to sleep... She slept 6:30p to 7a last night (she fussed a bit at 5am, but put herself back to sleep), and by 9am she was more than ready for a nap. It is now 11:30am and she is STILL napping. I just checked on her because I was starting to get worried... She still takes (and needs!) three naps per day, and even if her last nap goes to 5pm, she is tired and goes to bed for the night by 6:30p. I know this isn't normal (and believe me, I am NOT complaining), but assuming everything else is fine, it is nothing to worry about, right? She just likes her sleep?

  • I would pay serious money if K slept like that!!

I might mention it to your ped at A's next appointment, but I don't think there's anything wrong with her sleeping like that.

  • i think she should share a little of the sleep mojo with Jones ;)  Does she get vitamin drops or anything?  anemia is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that might make her be alittle sleepier
  • your daughters schedule isn't so different from my kids, so i think it's normal! we are down to 2 naps most days, it depends on how long the 2nd nap is if they need a 3rd to make it to dinner, bath and bedtime without being cranky pants. i also find that when they are having more teething related pain they sleep more. i don't know if it's a coping mechanism or if the pain wears them out. either way no complaints, it's much easier to deal with sleeping babies than whiney cranky ones!

hmm... no.   She used to be on those Vitamin D drops, but my pedi led me to believe those were only necessary while we were BFing.   When we had the weaning discussion, she never mentioned any other vitamins.   She's on 100% formula now, and she get iron fortified oatmeal every morning.   I thought that should cover her bases, but I am definitely going to ask about that at her next appt.

i only mentioned it because it is on my mind to ask our doc about today...i got an email that talked about all the vitamin drops that babies were supposed to have, especially breastfed babies, and jones has never had a single one!  oops!
  • Needing to sleep every 2-3hrs isn't out of the ordinary.  I always find big sleep cycles just before a growth spurt too.
