6 week check up tomorrow

I have my 6 week check up tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous of what to expect. What is my Ob going to do or ask? Is there something special that goes on any tests or anything or do they just ask how your doing, and look at my incision from my c-section. Any ideas? I also wondered if anyone else is afraid to have sex? I am kinda scared maybe its just because i had a c-section but i'm kinda nervous it's going to hurt and be awkward. anyone else afraid or any 2nd time moms have any advice? TIA.

I also wanted to update on my bleeding question i posted last week. I ended up calling my OB because i was changing my pad every 20 mins it was the most bleeding i've every had. He told me that it was my regular period and that the first 2 are going to be very heavy, he did prescribe me different birth control pills to regulate my hormones and he said that would slow my bleeding within 2 days, and if not to call him back. The bleeding ended up slowing a few hrs after taking my first pill. So if anyone else has this dont be afraid to call your doctor, i was afraid he was going to laugh and tell me to deal with it but he was very nice and reasuring.

  • I just had my 6 week check up this morning. My OB did a pelvic exam, pap test, culture, Full exam really also did a breast exam to check for lumps as well, he was very thurough. He also talked about birth control options. I decided to go with mirena until i want to start trying again in december, he didnt really give me alot of options since i cant take anything with estrogen and he wanted it to be as effective as possible.

I have mine tomorrow.  I think my doc is doing the same thing yours did.  I have no idea on the birth control options.  I honestly think I prefer to just use condoms for now...

  • I was actually thinking the same thing use condoms, and take the mini pill, that i was on before. I have been in seeing my ob about 5 times since i was released after she was born and he's talked to me about bc my last 3 visits and he changed my mind after talking to me but it still wasnt what i wanted but he made it quite clear that this would the most effective option not really the most economical choice because i want to start trying in december. I go the 9th to get mirena inserted. Have you heard anything about mirena? I'm still skeptical but i know its the best option.

Yea i was scared from just thinking about it and my SO has been talking about it so much lately especially now that it'll be six weeks this friday and i agrees we'd try but i'm still quite nervous, i mean my incision is healed but not back to normal its still sore if pressed on and my doctor told me yesterday that it could take 6 months to a year for the area to soften back to how it was before my c-section, which really freaked me out. My SO is talking about trying for LO #2 in decemeber and i am definetly waiting until then if not changing my mind to longer thats why i agreed with my doctor on getting mirena which i was always against but its my most effective option.

It's good to know i'm not the only one afraid of the pain that sex will bring.

My dr. wrote me a rx for the mini pill I think... He said that as soon as I quit bf to come back and he would put me back on Seasonale (what I was on before TTC). He said that in the last week he's had 2 patients come in who got pregnant on the pill he wrote for me, they had quit bf but were still taking the pill, he said it was only 95% effective.  He also said their pg was also probably due to forgeting to take the pill every day.

What is Mirena? He didn't mention that.

I got a rx for the mini pill as well at about 4 weeks and then i got my period shortly after that and it was so heavy i had to call and he prescribed me a different pill with estrogen to get my hormones to regulate, which would slow the bleeding.  That new pill brought back the headaches because of the estrogen.

I got pregnant on the mini pill. it was hard for me to remember to take it everyday at the same time and its hard enough for me to remember taking it everyday more a less the same time everyday, i was so excited to be pregnant though i wanted a baby for years.

My doctor only gave me a few choices on birth control because the extra estrogen gives me headaches. I had to choos between the mini pill, mirena which is an iud that lasts up to 5 years or implanon which gets inserted in your arm and lasts up to 3 years. My doctor told me since i wanted to try in about a year that mirena would be the least invasive to remove.
