I like Jameson for a boy. I don't like it for a girl because it instantly reminds me of the porn star jenna jameson (even if you spell it jamison). For some reason I don't think of the porn star when I think of the name on a boy.
Changing the spelling doesn't make it a girls name. Save it for your next child, who may be a boy, and find a girls name all her own.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I obviously don't drink because I had no idea that this was a type of alcohol, haha. I also forgot to mention that this would be a middle name...not a first name but I guess that wouldn't matter because ya'll really don't like it.
Yeah, whiskey. And since it's "Son of James," I'd skip it for a girl, too. Guess you could say that about a lot of girl names that end in "son," though.

I like Jameson for a boy, I know a little boy with this name. Don't like it on a girl because all I can think of is Jenna Jamison (or however she spells it.) I don't like any "son" names on girls, too masculine. (And I'm normally a fan of unisex names.)
I HATE this name. It has so many strikes for me. I hate names that end in "son" as a general rule, unless they are actually being named after a family member. Jenna Jameson is one of the best known porn stars out there and I always think of her right away. Jameson whiskey is also not a great association for a child's name.
All that being said...I'm glad you're considering for a MN instead of a FN. No one ever uses their middle name anyway, so I think that'd be fine.
Jamison is actually the correct/original spelling for the name 'son of James'. Jameson is the American phonetic spelling because we seem to automatically think that James' son is Jameson.
That said, both are obviously masculine, and on a girl, all I see is Jenna Jameson.
I'm in the minority here apparently but I like it. My husband's MN is James, and if this baby is a girl, I'm considering Jamison for a middle name to honor him, since we wouldn't have any boys then.
I have a friend who named her girl Jamison (not sure how she spells it) but she calls her Jayma.
My brother-in-law's name is Jamison, so that is still how you spell it for a boy. Changing the spelling of a boys name does not make it a girls name, especially when that spelling is still how boys spell it.
I obviously don't drink because I had no idea that this was a type of alcohol, haha.
Just like Madden and Manning had nothing to do with football, right?
Here's a hint:
Next time before you post a name on this board, try Googling it first.
Oh, and another hint:
Misspelling a boy name doesn't make it feminine. It just makes it a misspelled boy name on a girl. You got lucky with Jamison (see BraveAngel's post), but try to keep that in mind for future posts.

Really dislike for a girl. Since it means Son of James...and delicious triple distilled whiskey.
Great, now I want to go back to Ireland.

This exactly.
Our family blog
I too dont think of alcohol or the porn chick.
However, I still do not like it on a girl (even for a MN). Sorry.

I actually really LIKE this name for a girl.
I can see it becoming a bit pretentious though, I have heard of a few "socialite" type families in the NYC area naming their little girls this.
breastfeeding, cloth diapering, farming mama.
i love this name its on the top of my name list but for a boy and i have it spelled Jamison.

The feminine version is Jamesina.
