Question about taking Provera for 14 days

I got pg after 4mths of trying, Oed like I was supposed to, Af was always 25-28 days, ended up having a BO MC. Doc prescribed me 10mg of provera for 14 days to help me start AF ( it had been 6 wks since D&C and no AF) bleeding after D&C was maybe 24 hours (dont know if that matters at all)

--Now to the Q:

I have read a lot about taking provera after m/cs if you dont get AF- but most of what I am reading is saying that people take it from 5-10 days. Why would my doc rx it for 14 days? Have you ladies heard of that?

I also want to say that I will follow the Drs order, but wanted to know if I should call and double check on the dose. I dont want to be a pain by asking, and it is only 4 more days-- but if I should only be taking it for 10 days, I would like to do that. Or maybe I just need to step away from Google and stop reading up on stuff

My OB put me on Provera for 10 days, and to be honest, it did nothing for me. I have not taken it in awhile, but what I remember, I was on it to get a "flow" period and after taking it for 10 days and then waititng another week, nothing happened. On the other hand, my RE has put me on progerstrone to induce a period and that only took about 8 days to work..

Question: Are your HCG levels back down far enough for you to get AF?

Yes, HCG is back to normal and has been for a little over a month ( I have the exact date of the last test at work)

Provera is synthetic progestrogne, what it does it rasie you hormones like if you ovulated and than drop it to cause the body to start a period. Just know it can take up to 2 weeks after the last pill to get AF.

In that case, I think I would just call the Dr. and just check in with them. I guess I figure that if I am questioning something, I always feel better when they can explain things to me. I hope you get some answers and AF shows up real soon.

I always took it for 10 days and it took anywhere from 2-14 days for AF to show. Good luck!

My current dr prescribes it for 14 days. I have questioned it too. I think it might be because of my weight Embarrassed

Oh, maybe that is my Drs reasoning. Now I dont want to call and find out.
