  • The main purpose is to sit up babies who cannot sit on their own yet. But you can use it in the bath/shower, as a highchair, to sit them in to play, as a booster seat ect. My DD hates hers and I am happy ours was a hand me down. I know a lot of babies love theirs, but at the age of your LO I wouldnt spend the money, you dont need it.

  • It's to help babies sit up when they can't sit on their own.  It also helps my DD to poop if she hasn't gone all day.  Works like a charm.  She goes within 5-10 minutes after putting her in there.  She loved it from 3 months until recently, but now screams bloody murder if I try to put her in it now.

Our guy likes his. We use it when he's bored with his toys, ect and we need to keep him entertained. (we'll put the bumbo on our island while I cook/bake/clean kitchen) he loves watching us do things, so for that reason, the bumbo works out great for us on a lot of occasions.

As PP said - you can go to a used children's store and spend 1/2 the money. Also, if you know someone who already has one, you can borrow theirs to see if your DC likes it.

  • I got ours as a shower gift, even though I didn't register for it.  One of my fellow mommy friends said I absolutely needed it.  Well, DD is not a huge fan.  She'll sit in it for 5 minutes, then she starts arching her back and trying to get out.  She much prefer sitting on the floor, propped up with the Boppy.  She can reach her toys much easier from the floor, and she has more mobility.  I'd skip the Bumbo.

  • We love ours!! Both of my girls used them all the time. We bought a tray for it recently and use it for feeding, and while we have dinner she munches on a mum mum in it while we eat. I like it better than a high chair when they are this little.

  • I was sure that the Bumbo was going to be a big hit with DD. Not so much. She always arched her back and tried to push out of it. Maybe our next LO will like a bit better?

I agree with the others...try a consignment shop or Craigslist.

  • its an assisted sitter chair, it helps them learn to sit up on their own...I LOVE ours...we use it to feed our little guy... we take it to resturants & just sit it right on the table with us, he can see everything & keeps him at our level...& that lead us to use it for all kinds of things, like riding in the cart at the grocery & giving us another safe place that he has in  the house...doesn't take up lots of room like rockers or sling chairs...

  • thank you so much! thats what i thought too but thanks. i won't be spending money on this..
  • We didn't get it.  It seemed nice but given that we had a high chair and a bath, it seems superfluous.  Glad we didn't get it since at 4-5 months, we put him in one at a friend's house and he hated it.  His thighs were too big for it at that point anyway.

  • We used one from when DD was 3 months old to probably 6 months old - she is tall for her age (according to percentiles :)) but if we try to put her in it now, she straightens her legs and tries to push herself out. We haven't used it in months.
  • I got one for my shower, with the tray too.  At this point it's probably useless for your little one unless they're tiny and can't sit up on their own anymore.  I used it for DD before she could sit up on her own and before DH put together the high chair.  Then she started to try to fling herself out of it, so we stopped using it around 5 months.  She's probably too big for it now.

  • Love ours! I always thought they were stupid(bc they 40$) until LO should she wanted to be sitting early on but couldn't do it on her own. So I tried it out and we use it everyday! Some times to eat in, other times while we get dress...it is great!! Worth the money for us!
  • We used it to help LO sit up when he couldn't do it himself. He outgrew it about 3 or 4 months.  He has some chunky legs!
