Help from team green! DH has fallen to the dark side!!!!

Anatomy scan is 1 week from tomorrow. DH has been in agreement about remaining team green...up until today. He's trying to talk me into it, help me stay strong! I'm SO tempted, but I feel like if I do find out I'll kind of wish I had waited. Seeing everyone's posts about finding out what there having is making me weak...I need to hear some TEAM GREEN RAH RAH (sorry, I played volleyball. never was a cheerleader!) pep stuff! I need some good points to convince him we can wait!

Tell DH that you'll shop less if you're on team green. If you stay on Team green, you'll only buy what the baby needs as opposed to every cute little gender-specific thing you come across between now and D-day. Once the baby comes, you'll be too busy to shop too so team green is for his benefit. At least that's what I told my DH and he's all about team green..even for 2.

We were tempted to look for like 1 second at the anatomy scan but once it was over, the urge went away.

I agree with Jackie on the shopping point. I would definitely spend more if I found out. On the emotional/cheesy side, I keep reminding MH how exciting it will be in the delivery room when he sees that baby for the first time and gets to tell me what it is and then go tell our families what it is.

You can do it! MH and I really started to question our choice the week before the U/S, but now that it's behind us, we don't regret it at all. I agree with the pp's comments about not shopping as much and having that special moment in delivery where YH tells you what you had.

Stay strong. We decided to be team green before we were pregnant. My ultrasound was today and DH for a couple of weeks has been saying in passing that he wanted to find out. I basically ignored it or said no. Well scan is over and we're still team green. I was wavering but didn't want him to know that. I'm a little sad I don't know, but excited for June when we get to find out.

You can do it! We had our 20 week ultrasound over two weeks ago and we stayed on team green. It was very tempting! BUT my DH was waivering and I reminded him of what he is excited to do the most...come out of the delivery room and announce what our little one is. That is his shining moment! So we are really excited to have a surprise! YOU can do it!

Just stay strong! Here are my top reasons for staying Team Green to use on your husband.

DH will get to tell you and everyone else what the baby is.

At your shower,if you are having one, people will actually get you stuff you need and not super cute girl/boy clothes

The items you buy now that are neutral can be used for the next baby (save money).

You won't be able to shop for specific girl/boy things (save money, again).

You can always find out with the next one if you want to. This decision isn't for all your pregnancies just this one.

We are team green too, and i am rooting for you guys! After this US it wont be hard at all to stay team green, i dont even know if you get another US after the anatomy scan. So just remind him how exciting and special it is to be team green, and how so few people do it. Plus some key points to point out:

* Decorating the nursery can wait, most babies dont sleep in the crib for the first few months anyway.

* If this is your first it will actually benefit you to be team green, b/c everything you have will be neutral....so you can reuse it for baby no.2, as you have no clue what baby no.2 will be either. It will save $$

Hang tough!! We debated and debated before and during our scan yesterday - it was so tempting!!! In the end, we decided we didn't really want to know, but we worried that at some point in the future we would want to and it would be too late.

We compromised and had the tech seal a pic in an envelope that we could take with us (or choose to leave in our file). Now I feel NO DESIRE whatsoever to open that envelope. It just makes me feel better knowing I could if I wanted to. Maybe we are crazy, but it helped

My DH came home tonight to inform me that this students (he is a DARE officer) are not happy that we are not finding out what we are having. He now feels bad, but he knows we are not budging on this. I have no advice for you...I just gave the DH the 'look' and he knows not to bring it up again.

think how wonderful it will be to have the one person who helped you get through the nine months telling you as he places your litytle boy or girl on your chest after all the hard work.............. "hunni we've had a health baby ?"............ i just think that having DH tell me is far better than any sonographer telling you! stay strong!!!

We are having the same conversations at home, only I am the one who is wavering! So this was all good info to read. Our big reason for not finding out was to limit all the gender-specific crap people will give us. :-) (I sound selfish when I say that!) We are going to try for a natural meds-free birth and my friends have said it helps towards the end b/c you want to find out what it is already. Here's hoping that works! Good luck!
