DH asked if I could get him a book and I got him 'My Boys Can Swim', it's really short but explains what is going on in more male-friendly terms and gives them do's and don'ts which he found hilarious.
This is the only one I got DH to read the first time. It's great because it's humorous and fairly short.
We bought The Expectant Father and I think the ILs gave him a book entitled something like, "How to Keep Your Kids Alive Until Your Wife Gets Home," which was kind of a gag gift, and maybe another one, but I don't think he read the others.
I may buy him "The Birth Partner" this time, since I want to VBAC, and insist he read it, but I'm not sure if I should because I'm sure I'll get ripshit pissed at him if he doesn't.

I bought DH The Expectant Father. It really focuses on what the father goes through. At the beginning of each chapter there is a paragraph on what the female is going through and a paragraph of the baby's development but the rest of the chapter focuses on the father.
I wanted to get him Pickles and Ice Cream but didn't find it at the store and didn't feel like ordering it online.
I did order Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy on cd so DH can listen to it on his commute. I know it's not a medical book or directed to the father but it will give him some perspective on what's going on. It's how he likes things, short, direct to the point, funny, and crude. So perfect.
My friend recommended The Dude's Guide to Pregnancy. She said that both she and her husband found it funny and that her husband also found it to have a bunch of good info. I'm going to get that for DH.

I bought "She's having a baby and I'm having a breakdown" for my DH and set it in the bathroom (as someone on here so kindly suggested). Now he's quoting things from it constantly and seems to have a better understanding from a guys point of view. It's a pretty cute book, highly recommend it!
I bought "Be Prepared: A Practical Handbook for New Dads" before our first miscarriage. Thought it was pretty humorous and gives them a good idea of what to expect instead of what they may be thinking happens. Full of great tips too!

1. I need to see a link to this book, it sounds hilarious.
