Hmm...can't say this happened to us. How is her appetite the rest of the day? And with solids at dinner? I would think a growth spurt would be seen throughout the day, no? My first guess is that it is comfort rather than real feeding, but you would know best! I clearly don't have a ton of expertise here... :-)

well hey.. thanks for replying HA
She refused solids. And eats normal, so maybe comfort but she is getting quite a bit I can tell since I pump before I go to bed
Even if she eats a lot, it could still be comfort. We learned that when Anna used to nurse like mad at 3am, but when I was gone, she completely refused a bottle. At 3am and then again at 6am. For us that confirmed she wasn't necessarily eating because she was hungry, but because she wanted the contact/comfort. But how long has she been doing this? It seems to be an odd habit, you know? But maybe if she is just snacking the rest of the day, she is trying to load up on calories before bed?

I suspect comfort too. DD has been nursing like crazy for the past couple weeks. Like every 1.5-2 hours when she is home with me. I just went back to teaching my night class for winter semester tonight, and DD nursed before I left at 4:30, and then DH didn't have to give her a bottle until after 7:30 while I was gone. AND she slept for an hour in her crib (norm 20 minutes) with me being gone too.
