Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Fever for several days - what was your LO's diagnosis?

LO is 15 months. One week ago, she had her 15 month old shots.

She had a mild cold at the time (runny nose, a bit of congestion).

That night, she had fever and it's been on/off ever since. We're using Tylenol, but wondering why it's still there, one degree above normal.

Cold is also a little worse.

At apt. dr. said it was viral (one week ago). Could a virus have a fever for a week? Or does it mean it's bacterial?

Thanks for any input! Will be taking her back to dr. tomorrow...I'm worried!

  • Last time DS had a fever that lasted for several days (and it was never more than 101), he ended up having roseola.

Ditto although DD's fever went up to 103.8.  I was scared brought her in and they said ear infection.  We didn't know until the rash appeared that it was roseola.  She didn't end up having an ear infection,  they were inflamed due to the high fever.

  • DS was just sick all of last week.  Got sent home from daycare on Monday with a fever and goop coming out of his eyes.  Was put on antibiotics for possible pink eye and an ear infection.

He got way worse so I took him back on Wednesday.  Now had infuenza on top of it:(  Spent all of Wed, Thurs, and part of Fri sleeping on and off with a fever.  Finally broke and over the weekend have just been dealing with the snotty nose/cough left over part.  It seriously lasted forever though and he was miserable:(

  • My LO ended up having an ear infection after having a fever for longer than a week. We were able to control it with Motrin, but he continued to have fevers.

Hope your LO is okay and feels better fast.
