L & D

36 weeks and 5 days today. Had contractions right on top of each other for over an hour they said go to L & D. Not to mention getting hot, and the horrible back pain. These where by far the worst cramps I've had. Got there they hooked me up contractions where showing up on the monitor, and the nurse checked me. She is the same one I had last time, and I do not like her one bit. She couldn't find my cervix. It's not that hard lady. I was just at the doctor on Thursday and my doctor found it with no problem said I was 2cm and 80% this nurse said I was a little over 1 and 60%. I think I will listen to my doctor. Drank my 2 things of water and I was still having contractions but since I couldn't go any further in dilating the on call doctor sent me home. I'm still go see my OBGYN on Thursday. I think there guidelines for calling/going to labor and delivery are way off base.

    I think L&D triage nurses are supposed to lie to us and tell us we're 1cm less and 25% less effaced than we are to get us to move around more and be farther along when we're admitted. I think this is just how it is- I mean, look at how many of us here document the cm/effacement our OB's tell us we are, and then later that the L&D nurses said less or nothing?? It's got to be a rule.

    This is what kind happened to me over night... did they give you a 
    terbutaline shot to stop the contractions? That had to be the worst shot I have ever got in my life!

    No, shot and basically said well you aren't getting past 2cm so you can go home. I'm not going back until I'm in so much pain my DH has to carry me take that you mean L&D nurse/on call doctor.

    I read  your story..why did they give you a shot to stop your contractions? My doctor said after 36 weeks she wouldn't stop mine either.

    When I was seen in L&D I had a nurse who had a hard time finding my cervix too! Wth? Isn't that was nurses do all the time in L&D?! She asked me what were you 2 weeks ago? I told her not dilated and 25% effaced. She removed her hand and said, "Your the same." I had a follow up the very next morning with my regular OB and he kinda laughed when I said she couldn't find my cervix. HE found it right away and was even able to poke the babies head. I was 1cm and a bit over 25% effaced...stupid heads :)

    I have no idea, I think my contractions were too irregular and I was still at a tight, long 1 so the on call doctor for the practice told them to stop them to make me comfortable since the contractions weren't really moving anything long.  My Doctor however told me that after 35 weeks if I were to go into labor she wouldn't stop them, so I am going to ask her about it tomorrow at my appointment!
