  Ky grunts and makes all kinds of odd noises for no reason. For a while she kept doing this deep intake of breath that sounded like she was gasping for air. It scared the bejeezus out of me but it was just her playing with a new sound she figured oout how to make. I chalk it up to the equivalent of her learning a new skill and practicing it frequently.

  DD did this for like 2 weeks straight.. she was like growling... then one day she just stopped LOL. My mom says its just her discovering all the sounds she can make but who knows.

  DD did the growl thing for a while, too.  Then she moved on to the high pitched squeal...  Oh, how I miss the growling...  Hee hee!  Although, she's just recently started doing the fake coughing thing.  Had me terrified for a day or so, but nope, she just likes to make the noise because it usually gets her some attention.

  DD did the high pitched squeal for a while and now she on grunting.  The squeal was painful but the grunting is just bizarre. For a while I thought she was constipated

  my peanut alternates regularly between the grunting/growling noises and screeching.  she'll do one for a week straight and then suddenly remember she can do the other and do that one for a week.  although, right now she's grunting and screeching at the same time.  it's oh so pleasant.  anyway, at her 6 month appt. i had to fill out a survey of all the things she can or cannot do and one question specifically asked if she's grunting/growling so i figure it's quite normal.  don't worry.

  I'm so glad you brought up the fake coughing.  Before the screeching and growling DD started fake coughing. At first I thought she was sick and panicked then I realized it wasn't real.
