Trouble TTC

Pycnogenol: please come in...

I know we have talked about this b4, but I am looking into buying Pycnogenol for MH's morph and I went to all the surrounding pharmacies and even wally world and Im not sure if it is my imagination, but it seems all the vitamin isles at even the pharmacies are shrinking.  But anyway, my question is what Mg are you giving YH's??

I have a viatmin website I buy from for specialty items and they have more than one Mg choice and  I want to choose correctly.

TIA!

Re: Pycnogenol: please come in...

  • 200mg is the dosage they gave to the participants in that most recent study where it helped morphology, so that's what MH is taking.  I've only seen it sold in 100 mg doses though.

Also, is he taking COQ10? That's also supposed to help morph.  MH takes 300mg of that one.

  • Hi!  I don't have any answers on use of Pycnogenol for men.  It was recommended to me for endo and because it is an antioxidant.  I will caution you that if your husband has environmental allergies (for example if he is allergic to trees), you will want to be careful with pycnogenol.  It is made from tree bark and can frequently cause allergic reactions.  I hope it works for YH.  I just thought I would share a piece of information I found online after using (and having an allergice reaction to) pycnogenol.

Thanks for the info.  He doesn't have any allergies that we know of, so hopefully he will be fine.  I will watch him on it at first and take the dosage up in stride.

    Big Smile

  • That's really interesting STL... I have taken pycnogenol myself, just because I figure it's an antioxidant and it can't hurt... and I am allergic to trees.  I never noticed any reaction, I will have to look out for it next time.

It is from French Maritime Pine Bark.  So, it might not be a problem for you.  What is weird is I bought mine from Trader Joes the first two times and didn't have any problems.  But, I was supposed to take a higher dose so I ordered it online and had a reaction to it.  It was a higher dose, but I think the fact that it was uncoated tablet rather than the capsules I had been taking caused the problems.  I got a rash on my hand and also got the itchy mouth/throat.  Not fun, but it wasn't anything life threatening.
