When someone says this, exactly what does it mean?! ?Sleeping from what time to what time? ?I always get jealous and then I wonder how you define STTN, how many hours in a row?
To make myself not feel bad, I'm defining it as "the hours I want to sleep." DS has the number of hours down--goes 6 and 7 sometimes--but not the time of day. His longest stretch will be from 7 or 8pm on, which isn't really practical for ME to hit the sack.
I define it as 6 hours straight without waking up. My DS will go up to 8 hours straight, but not always on my schedule. His normal night time schedule is somewhere between 7 - 9pm to 4:30 - 6:30am. More often than not is around 4:30 - 5:30am...when its 6:30am I'm thrilled!
I sometimes dreamfeed at 9-10pm if he eats too early. If he eats at 6:30pm-7pm, he won't make it through the night. If he eats at 8-9pm he can make it till 5am.
I want to trade babies. DS sleeps from 10:30 or11-8... but I work at 5 AM so I never get enough sleep. DH gets to sleep in until 8 with him though. I wish he would go to sleep earlier.
Like PP said, its technically 6 hours straight. For me its how long I need to sleep! DS goes down around 9 and sleep till 6:30 (sometimes I have to wake him up to feed and go to work). This weekend he slept in till 7:15 so that was pretty nice
I define it as 8-9 hours straight. DD sleeps 6 straight, but sleeps from 10 to 4 am, which doesn't allow me to get much sleep since I get up at 6. If she could go until 6, that would be STTN for me!

I'd love him to go midnight to 8am, ideally.

technically its if they sleep for 5-6 hours at a time.
DD sleeps from 8-7 or 8 though, and I've grown so used to it, that if she wakes up at all, I don't consider it sleeping through the night. lol.
