DH decieded on taking a full week off work!

I know to some of you that might not sound like much, but my DH doesn't have sick time or vacation days.. He just takes days off and doesn't get paid.  At first he was saying he only wanted to be home 5 days (so if I went into labor on a friday, his 5 days would be F, S, S, M, T and he'd go back to work on Weds)  Well, I kinda thought he'd change his mind after LO got here, but after the breastfeeding class he said he is for sure going to take a least a full week off and if I go during the week (like tue-friday) he will take the rest of that week, plus the next!  It was just super excited to know.  (and for the record we have been saving up so we can take the money outta savings for the time he takes off).  It really made my day :)

Come on Sticky baby!!

  • It isn't a lot of time but my DH is only taking a week as well. He's a teacher and honestly, they just don't really get "days off" since they have so many breaks. I think it's great that your DH is going to get that extra time to be with you and your LO!

  • that's so great! fi is a cook and also doesn't get paid time off. he is still on the fence on whether to take a week off or have his hours cut to only lunch time. we'll see what the owners of the restaurant say when time comes.

  • DH was only planning on taking a few days and semi working from home for part of that. We live on campus at the University where he works so we figured he would still be available if either I or his job needed him. His boss, whom I LOVE, put his foot down yesterday. DH is *required* to take a minimum of 7 days with zero contact but can take up to 14 with no contact. Once he goes back its understood that as long as he is not in a meeting or something, he can come home to check on me. Loooove it! Most days I hate his job because the students are annoying and he never really gets to come "home," but I really appreciate his boss doing this. I guess his boss has serious regrets on how the birth of his first went.
