Another flying with toddler post

I think I may take the car seat with us on the plane, but I can't decide. I'll be flying back with him by myself and I'm not sure if I want to lug a carseat around. So, if I don't take it, would you get this:

    We had a bag that you could wear as a backpack but it also had wheels so you could pull it.  It only lasted for a few flights and wasnt the best quality but it was only like $35, I wasnt willing to spend $80+ for one of those other options.  That said, there were 2 of us and 1 baby so we had a stroller as well.  If I was travelling by myself I would probably put out the cash for one of the 2 you listed.

    How old will he be when it's time to fly?  How long is the flight?
