HI Ladies,
I feel like I've been going crazy trying to do research and see what I can find out there for potential grant money for IVF/and or insurance policies that we might be able to purchase because neither of our employers offers any coverage for infertility treatments. Any thoughts/ideas or things any of you have come across as far as paying for IVF? TIA ![]()
Re: IVF Costs
Financing might be your best bet. If your employer doesn't offer insurance with IVF coverage, I don't know how easy it will be to find individual insurance. Some of the financing plans have you pay for multiple cycles up front. If it works, you lose the extra cycles (you can't use them for baby #2), but if nothing works, you get a partial refund. I think some are single cycle plans. I know one clinic here uses the Attain IVF plan, and another uses ARC. I'd talk with the financial counselor at your clinic. They are probably the best resource. The internet can be incredibly overwhelming.
Also might want to look into a health savings account. That at least allows you to pay for IVF (and anything else health related) pre-tax.

I have never heard of grants for IVF, and obtaining a private/independent insurance policy with IF coverage is very rare, and especially so if you have been diagnosed with IF at any stage.
The only thing I can think of is financing IVF through your RE's office. I know our RE has a program that does loans for IVF but I don't know the interest rate or terms of the loans.
Best of luck.

We put most of our IVF costs on a 0% interest credit card. The 0% is good until November and we can (hopefully) pay it off by then.
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of options out there. We looked into medical loans, but the insterest rates were higher than what we would pay on a personal loan.
Good luck!
That's how we paid for our wedding. We had one year of 0% interest, and we were able to pay it off by then. If we end up with IVF we'll use our home equity line of credit. It's a great interest rate--much better than what I've seen with the IVF loans. You don't get the guarantee, but I hate the idea of paying for more than I need (ie paying for 2 cycles and only needing one). I'm not much of a gambler.
