April 2011 Moms

Sorry DH, it isn't the same..

I got annoyed at my DH today when he tried to commiserate with me. He hasn't slept well in about 3 nights because he's been drinking beer with my dad every night and waking up for work at 6:30. He goes "I feel like you now, I haven't slept well in forever".

I haven't slept well since October and I haven't had a beer since July.

  • Ha! My favorite is, "Oh, my back hurts so bad."  I'm sorry....YOUR back hurts? I can't even sleep at night b/c my back has been hurting for months and it will continue to hurt for at least 2 1/2 more months. No sympathy here.
  • I'm going to cyber slap him for that one ... definitely doesn't compare.

MH has been playing the "my back hurts" card recently too. I'm like take an aspirin and stretch it out.  He even stole my heating pad the other day.

I think it is sympathy pains.  The man does nothing to make his back hurt.

I think you're right about the sympathy pains. Along with his back (there's also no reason for my DH's back to hurt either..he's a pastor. No physical labor at all) he complains of being so tired and not being able to sleep. And if I have to hear about his mild heartburn after eating a bowl of chili, I'll definitely go all crazy pregnant woman on him. I have 24/7 heartburn that keeps me awake at night and nothing can help it or prevent it, regardless of what I eat. Again, no sympathy here.

  • I feel so bad for him. Here's my sympathetic face. Indifferent lol

this made me LOL so hard. MH def. almost got smacked wheni  was labor with our DD. He was literally holding my leg, head hanging out of me (sorry if this is TMI) and he said "my knee hurts" the doctor told him he's lucky i couldn't kick him in his face since I couldn't move my legs that much. ahh..they have no clue.

  • I  have had a wicked cold since Saturday and have not slept at all.  Tried the recliner, I get up and take hot baths, drink water, honey, lemon.  Cough my brains out all night long. Trying to do it quietly so that DH can sleep.

Today he calls from work and say's "I'm starting to get sick so you are going to have to get better to take care of me tomorrow."  Seriously???

  • I get annoyed with DH just because he is snoring next to me when I am tossing and turning ALL night long.  The nerve of him to sleep so soundly.  If it makes you feel any better, DH told me I had "no idea" how uncomfortable the beds for husbands are at the hospitals...are you kidding me?  YOU were uncomfortable, when I was the one hooked up to all those monitors/IVs for 32hrs and pushed out a baby.

  • Yes, I find my husbands growing sympathy pains quite unsympathetic, but rather annoying.

"I'm really tired" just doesn't get much of a reaction from me these days.

  • A month ago my husband got a cold (a week after I had one) and tried to get sympathy from me about how misserable he was. I looked at him and said are you serious? I had that same cold last week only I couldn't take anything to help with the congestion, and I had all of the discomforts of pregnancy on top of it. Don't you DARE try to get sympathy from me because you still have a slight sniffle after taking your mucinex!!

  • These are amazing stories! I'm seriously laughing out loud at every one of them! I can't wait to show him these responses after work :)

    Thanks ladies!

THIS!!  I couldn't believe that DH had the nerve to complain about the uncomfortable bed/chair that he had to sleep in.  And his back hurt "sooooo bad."  I was too dumbfounded to even say anything to him.  This time around I already gave him fair warning that sh!t will hit the fan if he complains about that again!  Birthing beds are not freaking comfortable either, I was just in labor for 12+ hours after being preggo for 42 weeks, pushed a baby out my who-ha, not to mention my back was seriously messed up for MONTHS after giving birth ... DH better not complain again.

  • My husband stayed home sick for 2 days last week.  I put him to work around the house anyway.  If I feel like crap and still have to do things, he does too.  I'm sure he would have rather been at work!  :)

  • Add mine to the "Woe is me, I have a cold!!!" whiners.  Buttpuppet.  He had just endeared himself to me when he had a recent bout of stomach flu that had horrible abdominal cramps with it.  He was doubled over in pain and looked up at me and said, "If this is even remotely like what you went through while in labour, I have sooooo much respect for you."  That one earned him a few gold stars.  Which were promptly negated by the bitchfest his head cold brought on.

  • DF and I both have colds right now too and he will only take what I'm allowed to take cause he doesn't think it's fair if he takes something that will actually make him feel better if I can't lol! He doesn't whine about it too much though.

My husband ate a big dinner last night and felt too full- he turned to me and said "now I know how you feel"

    ...

And I just about clobbered him.  He probably won't say anything like that again.

LOL - I'm soooo glad that I'm not alone in my annoyance. Sometimes I seriously have to wonder, which one of us is pregnant? My husband def. whines more than I do!!!!

He's my big baby - helping me get ready for my LO!!!
