20 Week Sex

Is anyone waiting until 20 weeks to find out the sex along with the anatomy scan?

I feel like I see early results almost every day but no one is "sure". My OB has set my anatomy scan for March 1st and that is when they will give me their best estimate (if baby cooperates) on the sex. For me, it'll be better to wait until then anyway because their estimate will be more accurate?

Ladies, what's making you go for these early scans or asking your dr's to give a guess?

I'm waiting to find out at 20weeks. I may have an ultrasound before then but they don't determine the sex at that time.

I'm high risk so I get ultrasounds every other week. If it weren't for that, I'd prefer to wait til 20 weeks for the most accurate guess as well. They told us 95% girl at 14.5 weeks, so we'll see what they say in the coming weeks. We're still not telling anyone until closer to 20 weeks.

So a little over a month for you! That's exciting. The weeks feel like they're passing by pretty fast. I didn't expect that?

I got my elective U/S at 16 w 2 days and she is sure it's a boy...no guess. I just couldn't wait until 20 weeks and since the sex can accurately be determined at 16 weeks my husband agreed.

I use the term "guess" because nothing is 100% until that baby comes out.

My anatomy scan isn't until 21 weeks, but I am going for an elective ultrasound this weekend to try and find out the sex! I am too impatient to wait!

We are doing the 2d and 3d at this ultrasound, so I'm hoping the baby cooperates so we can find out!

I'll be 22 weeks when I go for my anatomy scan. The place my doc is sending me to (he doesn't do u/s in his office) doesn't do scans until 22 weeks.

My scan will be at 19 or 20 weeks. I am going to schedule it next Monday at my 16 week appt...although I really wish he'd take a look for me at my 16 week appt. for a guess! I'll try to convince him when I get there....

I did have a 13 week scan at a place besides my Dr's office (it was an unscheduled u/s due to some spotting) and the tech guessed Baby A was a boy, but she said she absolutely wouldn't stake her life on it, so I'm not counting on it either...and Baby B wasn't even close to cooperating (legs crossed) so she couldn't even guess.

So really I don't plan on knowing until around 20 weeks.

We are waiting for out ultrasound at the dr too. My Dr. only does 3 ultrasounds (unless you are high risk) so I will be scheulding my anatomy scan ultrasound on Tursday when I go in for my check up. She does them anywhere between 18-20 weeks. I am excited but glad to wait as well.

I am high risk so I have a scan at 16 weeks at my high risk doctor and then 19 weeks at a different doctors so hopefully they can give me a guess at 16 weeks. If not I don't mind finding out at 19.

My doctor and the u/s tech keep telling me that they do the scan during weeks 21-22. So they will schedule it on Feb. 15 when I go in at 18 weeks. I have a long way to go! I am trying to not wish the time away since this will be my last pregnancy.

Every baby develope at different rates. That's why we all hit puberty at different times and some girls get boobies sooner than others, And every dr is different. When you're at your visits, if they can tell then they will tell you sooner than later. My Dr. chose 17-18 weeks to check me. So I go in on 2/2, the day before I start my 18th week to check. They may or may not be able to see it. And you never kow how the baby will cooperate. And if the baby is't fully developed then they can mistake a boy for a girl. Their genitals are considered to be at full developement at 20 weeks. Some dr's choose to wait until this time whether you are high risk or not. So I wouldn't worry if I were you. Smile

We're waiting until 20 weeks as well.. DH and I are long distance right now, so I wanted to plan a time that he will DEFINITELY without a doubt be here! My Dr. understood so we agreed on week 20 (I'll actually be 20w 3d, but its close enough). I can't wait until march 7th!

We have to wait until 20 weeks. My doctor refuses to do it early and give a false reading on the sex. I don't mind waiting. I would rather wait 3 or 4 more weeks and have a 100% answer.

I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan, and for that reason I am taking the $185 I COULD have been spending on an elective ultrasound and I am using it to open the baby's 529 plan for college. I will suck it up and wait for the "free" (ok, insurance paid for) ultrasound at the 20 week mark.
