Like P90X or something, gym classes, etc?
After mine comes (and I'm given the okay to work out again, not supposed to do it til your stomach muscles come back together and for 2nd+ timers it could take 3 months) I would like to start going to the gym. I didn't with my other two, but I think with the damage this one's done to me I really need to do it to tone up. I'd love to go at least 2x a week, but it all depends on my DH's schedule. If he's working late nights, there's no way I'm going to the gym that late.
As for diet, I know I'm going to have to be on a rice-and-chicken diet for the first 2wks and have to slowly start bringing other foods back in. That's because my other two were really sensitive nursers, green veggies and all dairies gave them such horrible, painful gas and eliminating food was the only way to help them. Infant Gaviscon doesn't erase all your dietary mistakes. With my son, I had to drink soy milk until he was 6 months. (That stuff gets expensive too.)
I'd LOVE to join a 24hr Fitness because they have free childcare, but since we live in Mil housing we have a gym here in the community that's free and he doesn't want to spend money when there's 'a perfectly good free one down the street.' I agree, but then I'd have to pay someone to watch the kids anyway so I could go work out because they don't have any child care available and when DH comes home, he clocks out mentally and lets my children veg in front of a stinking tv. So he has to step up and be super helpful if my dream of hitting the gym biweekly is going to happen.
Re: Are you going to do a weight loss regimen after your baby comes?
I'm looking at either doing curves which worked great for me years ago when I was trying to lose weight (sadly when I quit smoking I put all the weight back on and then some). Or I'm looking at some mommy and me classes.
My Aetna insurance has some gyms where I can go for discounted rates, I can also buy workout equipment. I also have a WII fit.
I would love, love to join a gym since I enjoyed taking classes and my fav class is kickboxing. But our finances do not support that right now nor would I be able to do that for awhile anyways I'm sure.
Either way I need to do something for my stomach muscles to get them back together though.
I don't plan on dieting because of bfing, but I plan to do my Biggest Loser Cardio DVDs that totally kick my butt. Man Tif, you really bummed me out about going on vacation at 6 wks pp...I was planning on having grace with my body for what it had recently gone through, but I also don't want to look 5 months pg then!
A possibility was born the day you were born and will live as long as you live.
If you have a free gym, and also can get a free personal trainer (I'm military too and have a PT before I got pg), then I would not pay to go anywhere else.
It won't kill your kids to watch a dvd for an hour twice a week so you can go work out since your dh checks out mentality.
I would not pay for a gym membership, being in the military we get lots of perks and I totally use the base gym. I love all the classes and like I said, the free personal trainer is awesome. I can't wait to get started again!!!!
I'll go back to karate 3x a week about 4-6 weeks after I deliver. I will add walking the dog at night or we've been talking about buying a treadmill. I will happily go back to doing my pilates as soon as my stomach muscles are functioning better. Between those I should be good in the exercise department.
As far as diet, I will just go back to the South Beach lifestyle with DH, but will need to keep up my calories for nursing. I may get some indulgences that are not part of South Beach, but since DH doesn't need to lose weight (just maintian) he will get to partake as well. Got to have some indulgences with all that hard work.
when I get the ok I plan on going back to the gym.. I need to my legs and behind are not so hott anymore! I also have a workout video slim in 6... its a 6 week video training and I did it before and it really toned me up so I would like to do that again too.. I also plan on bfing so I am still going to consume my extra calories... My goal is to get my legs back in shape for summer.. I hope
I hope BF does all its supposed to do for starters.
I am really considering weight watchers point plus program. DH said he would do it with me. I didn't really gain a lot of weight but I think WW will also help me eat better in general.
I have The Firm workout program for in the house. I think this will work for the cold months and not worrying about taking LO anywhere. But I plan to use the gym on post (we are Army) by this summer because at that point I will want to be getting out of the house.
This! I was a Lifetime Member at my goal weight when I got pg, so I get 3 months free when I go back. I am pretty sure it will take more than 3 months for me to lose the weight, but they have a special breastfeeding plan, which I know has worked for several friends while allowing them to still produce adequate milk. We also got an XBox Kinnect, and the Biggest Loser workout - can't wait!!

I'm wanting to run a half marathon the first weekend of June (same one I ran last year). In order to do this, I need to be able to run 3 miles at the end of March. I currently do an hour on the elliptical 3 times a week. In the past that was how I trained in the winter after it warms up, I've found I can get out an easily do 4 miles. My hope is that if I can maintain this workout regimen until delivery, then take just 2 weeks off (I could be dreaming on that one), I should have no problem being capable of running 3 miles by the end of March.
As for the diet - it's so long chocolate and cookies and back to my usual low carb diet. I've been holding steady at a 35 lb weight gain, so I'm hoping I'll be back at my regular weight by the half marathon in June.
I'm planning to do Weight Watchers for bf-ers (I think you can start at 6 weeks?) and taking LOTS of walks with LO once it gets nice enough outside.
Also - I've eaten whatever I wanted for the past 9 months (and have the 40 lbs to show for it!) so I don't really feel the urge to splurge anymore.
