Not sure. I tried the harford Health Dept, but I don't think they are doing it anymore.
There's a website www.mdkiss.org that links you to the state Health Dept web site. There are "Permanent Fitting stations" that will inspect your car seat. I believe you have to make an appt. There are appt for Baltimore County
We took ours to the car seat lady in timonium? She was great and gave us a lot of information.
I was asking my Mom about this last night (she is a NICU nurse in the area) and she thinks you can take them to the police department. We are in Baltimore Co, though, so I don't know if it's different county by county. She said that not all may do it and to call and make an appointment first. Might be worth a try. Good luck!
We had an appt with the state trooper office in Balto Co...I think it was in Essex? Anyway, we ended up cancelling it since it was way after DD was born...it was the earliest we could get in as they only do a few. Be sure to call early!
I know GBMC has a private guy who does them for a fee, but he was off when we tried to get him.
Call the Parent Education Dept. at GBMC. They can set this up for you. I think the fee is $35. Jusrt make sure that you get it done early. We were parents of a NICU baby and we got released earlier then expected on a Saturday and the place was closed!
You will get a bunch of mailing from them afterwards though.(:
Thanks for this! I had been trying to find a place for the longest time (since my DD was born!) When my son was a baby the state police was doing them...I hate that they don't do them anymore!
Hi! A little late, but you can check out safekids.org for car seat events in your area. I am a certified car seat technician. I do them for free as part of my job, but I'm located in the city. PM me if you'd like more info!

Har CO Police will not do them. But Susquehanna spine and rehab in Bel air does them for free. She was great and very knowledgeable.
