Success after IF

pls recommend your potty chair

So I have absolutely no desire to potty train Henry before the baby comes or even shortly after, but in the past week he has asked several times to be put up on the toilet. I've obliged, but frankly it's a pain in the butt to put him up on the regular toilet and I'm thinking it might be easier if I go ahead and get him a potty chair to "practice."

I looked at the BRU website and there are a gazillion options. Anyone have one to recommend or can give me some direction on what I'm looking for...or does it not matter and they all work pretty much the same??

TIA!

  • I need to buy some too, so I'll be looking at this post.

I was going to get the Baby Bjorn ones.

  • We have the baby bjorn and I think it is fine....of course, she has only sat on it twice for us, with no "deposit" (apparently like 6 weeks ago, my MIL bought one and let G sit on it before her bath and when she stood up she had peed in it....so we bought one, but I really don't know how to "officially" train her....)

We have the small one-- may buy the slightly larger one for another floor in the house, I like the removeable bowl aspect and the color-- and it was like $20.

  • My girls aren't potty training but they wanted to use the potty so I just bought the very simple froggie potties.  They are easy to clean when they do use them and they are cute.  I've seen them at Target and Walmart and BRU.

  • We have the FP Cheer For Me Potty.  Megan's been using it for about a little over 2 weeks.  We aren't officially training yet, but will be soon.  Big girl panties are coming from Amazon tomorrow!

The chair is nice because it "cheers" and sings when the electrodes in the bowl get wet.  Instant gratification!  Sometimes she pees such a small amount, and you can never hear her peeing.  If it wasn't for the "cheering", you wouldn't even know she went.

We put her on it about 6 times a day and we have been getting about 2-3 successes a day.  Somedays none, but she's getting the concept and says toppy toppy toppy as soon as she'd pee'd now.  Seems like she's connecting things, just isn't quite there yet.

We're going to try the 3-day boot-camp approach here very soon too.

  • I think I'll get this one.  lol
  • Bjorn all the way. I did a lot of research before getting one and it gets the most raves- esp for boys.... not many parts/areas that can get coated in germs - easy to clean, no bells/whistles to distract the child - we love ours.

    Omg.  Hilarious!

We got the Bjorn one.  Jack likes to carry it around the living room.  :-/

    Wheee!

  • I recommend the Bjorn travel potty.

Again - for boys it's almost impossible to pee out of (although I've seen it done).

No parts to clean where pee can get stuck.

Small and light weight so it's easy to lug around the house or outside.

Or in our case IN the bath tub where we caught our first pees with Dylan.  There's something about that warm water hitting them that makes them go every time!  Try putting the potty in the tub at bath time and then starting the water.  Stand back and watch the magic and then cheer like mad!

    GL!!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
