3rd Trimester

what brand of paint did you use for nursery?

Do you recommend the low fume stuff whatever it's called or just go with basic?

  • we just used benjamin moore eggshell finish. the fumes really were not bad at all.

  • We used Glidden with an eggshell finish.  We were going to go with the no VOC paint but we figured it wasn't worth the price since we painted the nursery at 22 wks.  The fumes are completely gone now.  Had we waited I would have gone with the no VOC paint.

  • We used Behr, but we painted it over a year ago, before we even planned on TTC.  We just figured that someday it would be the baby's room and we'd paint it green.  I didn't know anything about low vapor then, and if I had to do it all over again while pregnant, I'd probably do the same thing.  I don't think the smell is that harsh, to be honest.

  • I used the Benjamin Moore Eco-Spec paint.

  • we used behr for the whole house (we just moved) and the fumes were not bad at all.  we just kept it well ventilated and i took plenty of breaks outside.

  • Benjamin Moore Aura in Eggshell...didn't worry about the fumes, since I didn't do most of the painting. When it started to get a little strong for me, I just left and let MH and MIL finish up.

  • We always use Behr. We painted our entire house in it and I love it, very high quality. We painted our old apartment in Behr and lived there for 5 years and the paint job still looked good when we left.

  • We used Valspar Low Odor.  It wasn't too bad of a smell and was a little expensive IMO.
  • we typically love behr flat enamel but for the nursery we decided to use the low voc stuff that home depot carries.   my husband said he liked the way it went on and it seems to be a nice quality paint.  down side is that there are limited color choices.
  • That didn't even occur to me. I just used Glidden brand from Home depot.

  • Benjamin Moore Ben with an eggshell finish. We were going to go with Aura, but this was just as green and with a lower price tag.

  • We used Sherwin Williams superpaint - only took one coat with NO primer - virtually no smell either!
  • We used Sherwin Williams no VOC paint - it's their "Harmony" line.  (It may be "low VOC" but I think actually it's no VOC.)  Almost no smell.  I wanted his room to be at least somewhat "green", it's important to me.

  • We used Ralph Lauren paint.  The low/no fume paint they had at Home Depot just didn't have a good color selection at all.  But I did not help with the painting at all, stayed out of the room, and the paint smell faded within a couple of days.
  • We used Valspar from Lowes.  It didn't say anything about "low fumes"- we had just planned to make sure the room was well ventilated and for me to take breaks as needed.  It turns out that the paint didn't have too much of a scent at all.  I was fine.

  • We used Benjamin Moore paint, fumes were not bad at all.

  • If you're going to paint, I recommend Freshaire no voc paint.  We re-did the whole house with that, and there were no fumes or smell at all.
