  • Where are you reading that calamari has high mercury levels? I've never heard that before. In fact, I've always heard that calamari has some of the lowest levels. Swordfish, shark, etc. have high levels.

Here are just some resources that say calamari/squid is low in mercury:

  • My app says squid is safe, but limited to 12 ounces (two average meals per week). Mean mercury level 0.070 PPM. Check it out, it's on the "lowest mercury" section. Now I want some too! You can have some!

  • Huh, I never heard that about calamari.  Not that it's something I eat often, but I think I've had it twice since becoming pg.

It is like all the warning out there. I mean yes try not to eat a ton every night, but once and a while is fine. Just do everything in moderation and you'll be great.

  • Whew! I was getting all worried about causing my baby brain damage already!!!

This is kinda how I'm going through this pregnancy, although taking into consideration the restrictions and limiting my intake.

Just think about sushi, all the japanese ladies who are pregnant still eat it and have perfectly fine children so why here in the West is it a restriction for us?
