Trouble TTC

Newbie: On clomid and had 5 to maybe 7 mature follicles

Has this happen to anyone before? Does this mean that I am going to ovulate all five of them? My nurse from my RE office told me that I was out. I was so sad that I cried in her office.

  • I've never had that many.  My RE won't do trigger and IUI if I have more than 3.  There is a possiblity that all five would release.

  • Yes that would mean you would ovulate all of them and risk a multible pregnancy with 5-7 babies and possibly more if any divided.  That is why they would have cancelled the cycle.  It sounds like you were over stimulated.

  • Yes, like PP, most RE's will cancel if you have more than 5 because the risks of multiples is just too high. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. We were close to that last cycle, I had 3 over 18 mm on day 12 with a whole bunch close behind so we triggered that day to keep any more from maturing. Hopefully you can do the next cycle with a lower dose of Clomid, or earlier monitoring?

don't you just wish we could catch a break with all this IF crap? I hope you guys get a plan that works for you next month!

  • I'm sorry to hear about your cancelled cycle. I produced 5 mature follies on Clomid once and my RE cancelled my cycle too so I know how much it sucks.
