any detroit board regulars out there?

Hi ladies--

I have been lurking a bit on this board but it doesn't seem very active. I posted a few days ago about used maternity clothes and I got a bunch of responses, so I know there's more of you out there! I also saw a post about a get-together (saw it too late to respond) so there must be some active posters. Can we do an intro/roll call? And then maybe a daily check-in thread?

I'm Gina, I live in Beverly Hills. I have a 7 y/o DD and I am also expecting in July. DH was raised in the Livonia area and I was raised in California, and we just moved back here last summer. So what I'm saying is... (1) I'm cold. and (2) I need some mom friends! lol. Anyway, since moving I became a SAHM, but in CA I taught middle school.

Please say hi and tell a little about yourself!

Hi Gina! We are out here but it is definitely busier on the Detroit Nest board. I think pretty much every one that posts here posts on that board too.

Anyways, I'm Alyssa. My husband is Jared. We have a 3 month old daughter, Peyton. I am a vet tech but have not gone back to work full time yet, that will come in March. DH is a software designer. We have two boxers, Copper and Hank, and we live in Redford. We are in the process of building a house out in Novi.

Hi, Ditto the Nest Detroit board. I'm Amanda, Dh is Eric. We have a 10 month old Lucas and a baby due at the end of this August. We are in Farmington Hills right now trying to find a subleaser for our apartment and looking to buy in the Livonia, Plymouth, Northville area. I used to teach before I had Lucas....well sub - I never was able to get into my own classroom. I loved to sub Middle school, they are so fun

I live relatively close to you (close to, but not in Franklin, around the corner from the Franklin Cider Mill). I'm an attorney, pregnant with my first child and have been on bed rest since Dec. 1. hi there! i'm liz and i'm not *exactly* a regular, i just lurk once in a while, but i wanted to intro myself anyway. i'm glad to see this thread, b/c i've been disappointed with the inactivity on here and had no idea about the nest board being more active- i'll be checking in there soon, i guess!

i have a 4 month old DD, emerson. i am more or less a SAHM, although starting next month i'll be watching another LO a few days a week.

Hi- hope you're staying warm. Yesterday they were saying on the radio that Florida was the only state with temps above 50. It's cold everywhere!!

My name is Renee and my husband is Drew. We have 2 boys- Noah is almost 2-1/2 and Nathan is 3 months. I work full time as a mechanical engineer and DH was doing bookkeeping for Home Depot, although he just switched to management. We live in Washington Twp. Fun fact- Nathan was born on DH's birthday

I would call myself a regular on this board Smile and I think the activity goes in waves. Last summer we had a bunch of posters and some larger GTGs.

I am Julie and have one DD who is 15 months old (see siggy lol). I live in Macomb County. We are hoping to buy a new house soon so I won't say a city.

Dh and I both work full time so gtgs usually work on the weekends for me.

Hi, I'm new and thought I'd introduce myself! I'm Colleen, my husband is Dan, and I'm originally from West Bloomfield and he is from Farmington. We've temporarily been in Kansas and are moving back to Farmington Hills. We'll be staying with my inlaws while we house hunt (prly in WB, Canton, Northville, and Plymouth areas). My name is Courtney and DH is Rick. We got married in the beginning of November and are expecting our first child at the end of August. We live in Macomb and both grew up on the east side. He works in Warren as an application developer and I work in Southfield for an automotive supplier as an accountant. I was a former knottie and am pretty new to The Bump, but have been lurking for a week or so Maybe I will have to check out The Nest next!

I agree - come to the Detroit Nest board! It's a lot of fun over there. I am Andra, DH is Jeff. Married 4 years in July. I'm a SAHM and DH is an Account Manager for a Tier 1 parts supplier. We currently live in Dearborn but are hoping to sell sometime in the next decade (haha). We wanted to have 2 kids and God decided to give us 2 at once. Hello! I am fairly new, but have been doing my best to post on the Detroit board. I just figured out how to get to all the boards from work because the bump has been blocked!

My name is Michelle, my H is Justin. We have been married just over 5 years and we are both from Royal Oak. We have a 7 month old little girl, Morgan. A 6 year old dog, Bones, and a 4 year cat, Wallace. Right now our family is complete. I work at an automotive supplier in Livonia and H works for a restoration company on the east side.

I normally love the winter but this year I hate it, maybe because I have to lug around a 20lb kid now!!!

Yay! I am so glad you ladies responded! I am checking out the Nest board also...I like to lurk for a while before I jump in.

To one of the PPs who asked if I am finding out the sex....I SURE HOPE SO! haha. I'm a big planner/control freak, so I need to know. I will freak out if for some reason they can't tell me at the anatomy scan. Sorry I don't remember who asked...I knew I should have made a note or done a quote before I replied!

Have you looked into moms groups? Churches often have them and I joined a local MOMs club and have met some SAHMs that way. Also doing programs at your local library or finding a Gymboree class nearby may help.

Mine's Eliza Doolittle (Liza), and she is about 8 and a half. We adopted her as a rescue two years ago and she has been an absolute doll, the best pet I've ever had. I am a huge fan of the breed. Do you use Dr. Wilson for the vet (I'm doing a poll--everybody with a bulldog, a pug or a Boston seem to use him)? :-)

We went to him once and it was quite a drive for something that seemed average. Since we frequent the vet every few months, we are sticking with the vet closer to us. We have been pretty satisfied so far
