DH painting toenails?

My dad is throwing my mom a big 50th birthday party this Saturday night. It's a dressy affair and I don't have any nice black close-toed shoes to wear with my dress. I've decided to just go ahead and wear my strappy open-toed shoes, however, I badly need my toenails painted. I've tried reaching them and it's not happening. I asked DH if he would paint them and he said yes, I thought it was sweet but I had to laugh at the idea.

I'd love to get a pedi but it's just not in the budget these days so DH it is. Has anyone else had their DH paint their toenails? If so, how did they do? Should I have him do a practice run before this Saturday? Wink

My DH is a fantastic toenail painter. Early in our relationship he gave me a fabulous pedicure, probably the best I've ever had, since I won't pay for one! But I don't ask him to do it often, since the smell bugs him.

Have him paint them before you shower... after I shower any imperfections usually wash away and it looks more like I've had a professional pedi.

Just make sure to pick a color that it's okay if he messes up a little bit : )

My hubby painted mine for the first time in November (and has again since) and does an amazing job. I was shocked!! But then again, he did grow up with three sisters... maybe this wasn't his first rodeo!

I did! I had DH paint mine a few weeks ago because my poor, swollen feet were so pitiful. He did a good job, but I would recommend using a lighter color that won't show if the coat is a little uneven - that was the problem with mine. However, my DH is also veryvery colorblind, so that could be part of the problem, lol.

DH did mine before Christmas and he did a great job... I wasnt surprised though as he is very meticulous about stuff. I think he did better than I would have done.

He did try really hard to do it perfect, which I thought was even cuter. I'm sure your DH will do a good job, and not many people will prolly even notice your toes, but if they do they will prolly just be impressed that your toes were painted and you are dressed up.

My husband is the world's worst nail painter. But he gets an A for effort. I'd rather have my 2 year old do them.

DH is a perfectionist so I'm sure he'll do great. My biggest worry is that he won't like it and will want to start all over again. He has a tendancy to do that with most things he's responsible for! I don't want it to take an hour to paint my toenails, but I guess I should just appreciate the fact that my "manly" husband is ok with painting them! And you're right, everyone going to the party will know I'm about 38wks pregnant and will be too focused staring at my belly than my toes, but it's just peice of mind to know that my toes look somewhat decent for a night out Big Smile

Wow I thought my DH was the only one doing this. He has done mine since before I got pregnant. Always includes a foot rub too. It makes me feel so pampered and loved by him. Enjoy!

Unfortunately when mine did, I let him chose the color and it was really dark. It showed all the little smudges along the sides. He does get points for effort, although I thought with his artistic background he'd be a little better at coloring in the lines

I had him get a Qtip soaked in polish remover and keep that handy to run along the edges as he finished each toe - this helped! I was happy to be pampered and hope to convince him into another pedi soon. We have to enjoy these moments while we can!

My husband as clipped my toenails but I can't bring myself to ask him to paint them. He has already compromised his masculinity a few times during the last few months and I'm afraid this might put him over the edge.

I agree with the posted I quoted. He would prefer to pay for the pedi than go there. Then again, I don't even paint my own toes so I can't blame him at all!
