We are about to beging our search for a daycare center for DD. She won't be going until she's 11 or 12 months (my older sister sits for us right now), but the centers in my area fill up QUICK so I'm starting to look now. Does anyone have a list of questions or can you suggest some Q's that you would ask if you were looking into daycare for your DC? TIA!
Re: Questions to ask a potential daycare center?
1- What is the daily schedule like for my child's age range (I'd ask for 6mo + of your child's age since that time passes so fast!)?
2- What are some specific examples of activiies done with my child's age range?
3- How often do you go outside? (I'd look for a VERY VERY specific answer here...even if weather is an issue, I'd want a very specific criteria of when they go out "if the temp is over 32, we go out for ____ mins a day" etc).
4- What is your menu for the week? (even though your child isn't eating meals yet, I think this is a good indicator of what kind of care they get and your child WILL be eating solids soon!)
5- How many children are in your care daily? How many assistants do you have?
6 - What's your sick policy? When are children required to stay home? (this is more for knowing what kind of illnesses your child will be exposed to)
This is all I can think of right now.
I wind up not asking all of these as some of them are obvious or in the contract and I don't want to berate them. GL, it's not easy!
