High-Risk Pregnancy

what is the earliest you have heard of being put on bedrest?

I have a high risk (40%) of PreEclampsia and other issues which may require bedrest.

Hopefully, I will be fine and wont need any interventions, but I am looking for a new job.  If I get the job, I have to work for 3 months before you get benefits.  So... if I got pregnant before I get the job, etc...

what is the earliest you have heard /you yourself was put on bedrest?

if it is early, I will postpone the job hunt

Re: what is the earliest you have heard of being put on bedrest?

  • Last pg I was on br at 14 wks.  This time...um, 5 1/2 wks.  That said, I know very few people who've been put on it as early as me.

Talk with your ob and ask what they think about the job situation.  They'll be able to give you a better answer!  Good luck!

  • pre-e usually does not present earlier than 20 weeks. if it does it's very rare.

I would talk to your doctor about what he feels your chances of bedrest would be and how early you would be facing it.

I would also hold off ttc until you find a job and have been there. Being put on bedrest is HUGE financial burden if you are not prepared for it.

I went on bedrest with my first at 33 weeks.

    This pregnancy 27 weeks

    Best of luck to you!

  • I wasn't on bedrest early per se (25 wks with DD/delivered at 27 wks), and I don't know what your other complications are, but I wanted to give you some encouragement... I have about a 50/50 chance of pre-e this pregnancy and at 30 weeks I'm still doing fine and no bedrest. Good luck with TTC and your job search!
  • I already have a great job, but I was thinking of changing to a new job that was recently posted.  However, if the BFP shows up and the timing is off, I may have to decline the offer.

I guess I have to wait for the BFP, the job offer and then talk to the doctor.

I am getting WAY ahead of myself -

  • I was on hospitalized bed rest at 25 w 1 d with severe pre-e and delivered at 29 w.  I agree with pp, talk to your dr.
  • I would agree with others - with pre-e it's usually "later" in pregnancy (20w+), but since you're at a higher risk because of another complication I don't know if that changes things at all. I have heard of women being on bedrest for the majority of their pregnancy starting in the first trimester :( My first stint started at 17w.

  • DS1 - 17w due to placental abruption; hospitalized at 33w until delivery

DS2 - ob didn't feel bedrest was necessary. Stillbirth at 25w

DD - I put myself on bedrest at home at 22w with first signs of high bp.  Pre-e started to indicate about 28w.
