Success after IF

Beta went down- chemical pregnancy ?

My first beta was 56 and my second beta (yesterday) went down to a 46. The nurse said to stay on progestrone until tomorrow and test again. I assume this is a chemical pregnancy and that going down is not a good sign.  Why would they keep me on my meds...why wouldn't they tell me to stop? As this happened to anyone?

If this is a chemical pregnancy...what will happen (this is my first pregnancy ever- falied IVF in Sept-this was a FET with two good embryos)? I don't want to keep taking the meds if its inevitable that it will not work (like if it goes up and then down again).

Sorry this is all over the place but just don't know what to do and why they would tell me to stay on the meds if they are not optimistic

Re: Beta went down- chemical pregnancy ?

  • it's probably a chemical, but there is a freaky chance one took, you lost it, and another could pick up, or this one is just stalled out for a sec, etc. You never know. People always said that, and I kicked them in the shins, but that literally just happened to me this last cycle.

My betas were 46, then 54, then 210... and sure as chit, it was twins. (nevermind the outcome, that was unrelated) but you want to repeat the beta to be sure.

I'm sorry you're in limbo. It sucks. Hang in there. Let us know.

  • Beta limbo sucks, but I agree with DW. Chances are it is chemical but you really need a little more info before you can say for sure.

I'm sorry you're going through this, it really isn't fair.
