Success after IF

Nervous about my HSG tomorrow :(

Before getting pg with dd I had a lap.  My first HSG was performed while I was under and both of my tubes were blocked.  RE removed the scar tissue.  I had a repeat HSG the following cycle to see if the surgery worked and it did.  I don't remember much pain from that HSG.

I am having a new HSG done before doing my IUI with the next cycle.  For some reason I am super freaked out about the pain (and that my tubes are blocked).  I have a script for a valium and I have a high tolerance of pain.  I don't know why I am so nervous this time!

Re: Nervous about my HSG tomorrow :(

  • take the valium prior (and 800 advil) and whatever pain you have from it, if any, IS super quick. I've never heard of it being painful for long. PLUS... they DO serve a purpose, it's a test with a reason. AND lots of BFPs follow them ;-)

  • Ok, thanks for the tip on the advil!  I am a little excited because after my last HCG we got pg on our own that cycle.

  • No worries--it is super quick.  It's not the best feeling in the world, but it's over before you realize-mine lasted 1 minute tops! :)  And you get results right there, which is always a plus.

    Good luck!

  • I hope it is painless! Mine totally was and over in a snap!

  • I was super nervous about my HSG too b/c I had a terrible SIS, including tubal spasm and severe pain, although as others have said it didn't last long.  So I asked my Dr/friend to medicate me, I was asking for like 1 or 2 valium or xanax (I've never taken either) he ended up giving me like 30 percocet (don't ask why?).  HSG was a breeze, I didn't feel a thing (and not just because I was drugged up, b/c my meds weren't even kicked in yet).  I would have been much better on some Valium and Ibuprofen though.

Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine with Valium and Ibuprofen and good luck for another BFP following this one.

  • Huge hugs!  I know how nerve-wracking it can be, but mine was super quick and it was like one bad cramp and done!  Nothing to it and I had scar tissue from a biopsy before.  It's over in a snap and like the pp's have said... lots of BFP's follow!  Good luck!
