Bunk beds....same bedding or coordinating

Im starting to look at bedding for Ls bunk beds (which I cant wait to order at the end of the week!!)  and was wondering if I should do 2 of the same set or 2 that coordinate.

Any one want to share what bedding they have for their 5-6yr old boys room?

Thanks!

ETA:  Quilt or Duvet?

  • We let them pick.
Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
  • Loading the player...
  • Same and a quilt.

  • The girls each picked their own.  They don't match at all.  But Nathan has a bunk bed also and we just have coordinating bedding on his.

  • DS is getting his new bunkbed at the end of this week as well.  For one bed we are using the same comforter set he had for his current bed and bought another comforter set that somewhat matches.  They are both sports related and have the same blue tones.  The new set will go on whichever bed he sleeps on (which according to him will be the top bunk - we will see though).

  • Coordinating duvets from PBK for my boys' bunk bed. Navy gingham duvet with red sheets for one and red gingham duvet with navy sheets for the other. I love the way it looks--tidy and neat, but not matchy-matchy.

I know the rec. age for bunk beds is 6 but my 4yr olds have done fine with theirs.  (we got them around March or so last year but didnt bunk them until mid Summer or so.  They turned 4 in May after we got them.  They will be 5 this May.)  I told them that if they walked or jumped on the top bed EVER that I would take them down.  I explained that it was dangerous to play around on the top and that if they fell it would hurt really bad.  When they go to their room to play during the day they are not allowed on the top bed.  So far so good.  Never once have we had to remind them.   They absolutely love it and I have just made it clear if they dont follow the rules that I will un bunk them.

  • My DD recently received her older cousins hand me down trundal bed and we have coordinating quilts simple because I was not about to replace her original quilt and the one that my sister gave me with the trundal has the same colors and looks OK together.  If I had my choice I would either do the same bedding or a solid on the trundel that matches the quilt.  I really think this is so personal as I've seen it done in many different ways and it always looks good as long as the quilts are similar in theme (colors, both quilts, for example).
