Does anyone else HATE the Belly Band?

I didn't invest in a Belly Band/BeBand when pregnant with DS...I was so anxious to get into maternity clothes that I went straight from regular pants to the fully belly panel (which, btw, I LOVED). But this time around at a mere 7 weeks, I'm already fully busting out of my regular pants and not quite ready to get that box of maternity clothes out of the attic...

So I bought a BeBand from Target. Seriously, I feel like the only person around here NOT raving about the thing. Maybe it's due to the post-baby rolls that are still hanging around, but it's really obnoxious and bothersome. It's constantly rolling up or down, completely defeating its purpose.

I think I'll send DH up to the attic tonight to retrieve my oh-so comfy Secret Belly Fit jeans from Motherhood.

Re: Does anyone else HATE the Belly Band?

  • I haven't had the need for the belly band yet (my work pants are stretchy and at home I live in yoga pants), but I've had a lot of my friends mention what a PITA it can be.  I had a friend who said hers never stayed put and was always rolling all over the place.  I can't speak from person experience, but I don't think you're the only one less than thrilled with it.

  • I hated the BeBand from Target, but had much better results with the original BellaBand from Ingrid and Isabel. I'm not sure if it was cut differently, or a different material or what, but it was much easier to use. I found a great deal on EBay for a pack of 2.

  • I love mine now, but it took getting used to ... and the original Bellaband was much better than the cheap alternatives.

Although that said, I am still thinking of pulling out my one pair of mat jeans already.  They are so comfy and just have the tiny front panel so no one would notice :)

  • How do you use it?  I would put in on first, then pull my jeans over it (so that the belly band was between my skin and the button) and then fold the belly band down over the top of my pants.  Does that make sense?  I hated it at first until I started doing that.
  • I used one when I was pregnant with DS, and I hated it.  I'm pretty much living in yoga pants right now (am so grateful I'm a SAHM right now!), but I'm planning to bring my maternity clothes tote down from the attic here shortly and start wearing my maternity jeans.  I can't believe that I need them already!!

  • I had one from Destination Maternity which was the same, but the BellaBand brand doesn't roll up or slide like the cheapo one did. They're a bit more expensive though...

Hmm. Never thought of this but I will have to try it!

Okay....just switched to this method and so far it's SO MUCH BETTER! Thank you for the suggestion. I'm feeling like a bit of a moron at the moment...couldn't figure out how to properly use a small piece of stretchy fabric. Stick out tongue

We'll see how it holds up after chasing a toddler around for a few hours. ;)

  • I hate both of mine.  I only wear them if I'm out of other options (and now that I have 2 pairs of perfect fit maternity pants from Gap, I'm never out of options ;)  ), because you're right--they roll, they don't hold my pants in place without moving out of place, I can't wear any of my normal shirts with them b/c I can't tuck anything into them...they're just a hassle.  So I totally reverted to my 2 pairs of maternity work pants for work. I'm still a little ashamed that I caved so early, but my regular pants were NOT comfy, and were compressing my stomach...making the gas pains WAY worse.  I'm still fitting into my jeans pretty well (and if not, just use the hairband trick), but I can't wear jeans to work--I wear dress pants and a jacket every day.

  • I had one on today with my dress pants because i knew I'd be sitting all day in a workshop. I did the half under then over the pants as described but it was still very uncomfortable to me. Maybe i bought the wrong size- or it just takes adjustment. IDK. Bleh!

  • I got the BeBand from target and tried it at school today where I have to wear scrubs, and it sucked!  It rolled up, it rolled down, it got stuck in awkward positions all day.  I didn't get one for DS #1 and I was fine so, I think I might just have to invest in some maternity scrubs :(
