XP from 3rd Tri - BTDT Moms - Diastasis Recti

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow to confirm but I am 99.99% positive that I have diastasis recti and I am REALLY BUMMED OUT about it.  I was feeling so great about my pregnancy and how I look.  I have always been slim and now that I am 30 weeks pregnant I have gained 20lbs but all in the baby bump...the rest of my body hasn't changed.  Now that I have discovered the split rectus abdominus I am worried about how terrible I will look after I have this baby (and perhaps forever?!?). 

So, if you have had babies before and had diastasis recti...how did it turn out?  Were you able to correct the problem or have you been upset about your new body ever since.  If you had some success, please tell me what you did to correct it!!

  • I had two children and was recently checked for diastasis and I have it.  I am taking an abdominal class for moms with diastasis to correct it and after only 3 weeks, there has already been improvement!  Don't worry about it too much...I think it more common that you think and it can be corrected with proper exercise.
