I think I may be getting to the point where I don't *need* the diaper bag anymore. Then again, I can't imagine going out without diapers, wipes, snacks, toys or his sippy. I carry an "emergency" stash in the back of my car but making a trip back to the car from the mall, zoo, etc. to get a diaper instead of just carrying one with us seems pretty inconvenient. Is it too early to consider ditching the diaper bag? Should I get a tote instead?
Or maybe I just need a trendier diaper bag, ha ha. Currently I have an icky brown one (yet functional) from Target. Recs?
Re: When did you stop using a diaper bag?
I still use one. But I would say that what is in it has changed over the past year. Now we have small toys and crayons (to keep him occupied when we're waiting somewhere or eating at a restaurant), diapers, wipes, snacks, and a sippy cup. I also don't carry a separate purse, so I have my wallet, keys, cell phone, etc.
Perhaps you could get a smaller one that might accommodate needing less stuff.
This is what I use for the diapers/wipes, I thought it was silly when I got it at my shower, but I use it all the time and LOVE it. Keeps the diapers nice and clean, they'd be gross if they were just floating around in my purse, my purse tends to accumulate icky stuff.

These don't seem silly at all! It's actually a smart concept since the diapers always get wrinkly down in the bottom of the bag. Thanks for sharing!
TTC#2=July 2011: Surprise BFP: Chemical Pregnancy
I just stopped after I got a new purse for Christmas. I got this bag

which is big enough for everything but not as huge as my diaper bag.
I stopped using my diaper bag when dd turned one. I have diapers and wipes that I keep in a zip lock baggie in the car along with a changing pad. If we're going out to lunch I grab a bib but she could drink out of a straw so I didn't need a sippy anymore. I never carried very many snacks with me in the first place so she's fine without them when we're out. I keep a few small books in my purse to entertain her but that's about it. I'm kind of dreading going back to carrying a diaper bag once this baby gets here!

Ditto PP's - TRY a nice bigger purse.
I still carry a tote-sized bag when I know we'll be somewhere for a while and might need books to entertain the guys.
But - we were done with an official "change of clothes" kinda diaper bag pretty much as soon as we finished bottles so around a year? We kept wipes and a diaper or 2 in the trunk just in case but otherwise carried just 1 diaper and small travel wipes in a larger sized purse.
Then they were potty trained at 20 months.
Can NOT say I miss the diaper bag one bit!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
