taking a newborn to a restuarant

Quick question about using a bottle....my newborn is going on 3 weeks old and I breastfeed. I'm planning on introducing the bottle in a little bit so my husband can feed when I'm away, outtings, etc.

But when we go out to like a restuarant and she's hungry....I thought I'd have a bottle ready with us. How does it work with heating the bottle. Do you heat it at home before hand and keep it at room temp in your diaper bag? My book said breastmilk is good 4 hours at room temp (between 68-72 degrees) I know, probably a dumb question ha ha

About introducing the bottle I found what worked best for me were the dr. brown's wide neck ones...bigger nipple area more like a boob. Then we switched to regular dr. browns. I only BF for a couple weeks, then strictly pumped.

I never heated my bm. I believe you are not supposed to because it breaks down all the nutrients. My LC told me the rule of 4's. BM is good at room temp for 4 hrs., refrigerator 4 days, freezer 4 months. I would suggest trying the bottle before you go out, just in case your LO refuses it. If you have any other questions I will try and help.

If you want to heat it at the restaurant, you can always ask for a cup of hot water and just let the bottle sit in there for 5-10 mins

Feed your baby before you go to eat. And make sure they have a clean diaper. Baby will sleep through dinner!

Or just breastfeed in the restaurant! I do it all the time!! I wish my 5 month old would take a bottle but he only has a few times! The 4 hour rule is true or if you take it out of the fidge to take with you the cup of hot water does work!! Good Luck!!
