i want a new dr but just for the gender scan

Slightly annoyed with my dr who is making me wait till 22 weeks to find out the gender! I feel like i will be the last to find out well except for team green. 8 find this rediculouse! I'll admit i am not a very patient person and having to wait is killing me! Sorry for the vent but i feel cheated because it seems like everyone else is finding out at 20 weeks or sooner

    Why not just get an elective ultrasound?  I found a bunch of places in my area that would do it for a price (2D only), and so I got to find out the sex at 16 weeks.

    Those elective places are so expensive.  :(  

    My doctors office will do a gender only scan for $50 though, although you never see anything about it, it is offered if you ask.  Does yours maybe have the same type of deal?

    I found a place where I  live and the price wasn't that bad. I called and they said that I have to have my anatomy scan first. I don't know why all I want to know is the gender. UGH.

    They probably want to make sure you don't forgo the anatomy scan because you already found out the sex. I'm sure it has happened.

    To the OP, I know it's frustrating. I won't find out until 25 weeks and that is only because we are having an elective one. My anatomy scan is Feb 2nd but they don't tell the sex here. So you won't be the last haha.

I was 22 weeks for my anatomy scan for my son and that is when they saw that he had a heart defect. I was so glad to know before the birth that something was wrong so that we could plan and do all of the necessary monitoring for the rest of the pregnancy. I have read that some women who have gone in at 16 or 17 weeks have to go back because they can't see the heart well enough. So, there are perks to waiting...but I know the wait is hard.

    I agree.  Even though we did find out the sex and already had an anatomy scan, we are going back at 22 1/2 weeks to do another one because I want to be certain of the development of our girl's heart.  We have had several infant deaths due to heart defects and I have many relatives who are still with us that have one as well.  It's better safe than sorry.  But I would BEG them to find out the sex if I were you!!! :)  Good luck!

    You could pay for an elective ultrasound. They are approximately $75-125.

    oh how i would love to pay for one but i have two boys whom get everything they want(because of their dad he is a sucker lol) and a new car due to the baby because mine wast big enough and it comes with a great big car payment and i never have a day off except when everything is closed so at the moment it is out of the question especially since where i live they charge 375 or more. wish i could get one for less than 200 and i would do it! and i asked my doctors office and they told me they will not do one unless my dr okays it and she wont unfortunantly. lol i want to know sex so i can do stuff early rather than procrastinating like i did with my other two.

    You just have one more month to wait. You will have PLENTY of time to do the nursery if you find out at twenty two weeks. I do not know how far away you are from a bigger city in Texas but in Austin the scan is less than $100 and I am sure both Houston and Dallas also have imaging centers you can got to. But really, is it worth even $100 and your time/gas/mileage to find out one month before? (This is why we opted not to do an elective ultrasound)
