Infant pain reliever for cold?

Hi,

My LO has his first cold.  He is coughing a lot during his sleep which wakes him up.  Should I give him infant pain relief medicine?  What is your experience with first colds?  He is 4 months old. TIA

Re: Infant pain reliever for cold?

  • does he have a fever?

We only gave DS Tylenol on the advice of our pedi for a fever during his cold.

  • Only give it for a fever. It wont help with a cough or other cold symptoms.

  • Infant pain reliever damages the liver, so ONLY give it to them if they have a fever.
  • My LO just got over his first cold. He has a bad stuffy nose and a cough. Our pedi just told us to run a cold humidifier and we could use saline spray for his nose. She told us too NOT to use any tylenol unless there was a fever because if you used it w/o a fever you could mask a potential fever. Either way it was so horrible bc I felt like there was nothing I could do.

     Hope this helps.
