My DH and I always knew we would not find out our baby's gender....but now we feel like the mean couple who won't tell. And it's not like we don't want to tell, we just want a BIG SURPRISE and personally we do not know either!! Anyone else out there agree?
Re: Anyone NOT finding out baby's gender?
We're not finding out mostly because we don't have strong feelings either way and thought it'd be fun to wait until the baby is born. Several of our friends and family are getting all worked up about it! Saying things like "I can't believe you're making us wait" and "Don't you want to call the baby something other than 'it'?"
Chill people. Not your baby!
We don't have strong feelings either way either, so after some convincing from our parents we decided not to find out. It's so annoying now though to hear the reactions when I tell other people that we aren't finding out. My boss, whose wife is also pregnant, actually said "Oh, you're one of THOSE people..." WTF?? haha
We aren't finding out either unless by accident at the 20 week ultrasound. Our close friends don't tell the baby names or gender (if they even find out the gender) so it's not really strange to our friends or family.
Team Green here.
And I am super controlling type-A, but this just the one thing in life I don't want to know in advance. I want the surprise.
We're not finding out the sex of the baby. People's reactions range from "oh that's awesome, what a great surprise!" to "ooohh, you're one of *those* people" lol. I think the surprise will be fun.
Another one on Team Green here. We didn't find out with our DD and we don't intend to find out this time around either. We already know that I'll have a scheduled c-section so we want some surprise. The first time around, everyone thought I was having a boy...so to hear my DH say, "it's a girl...." was such a sweet moment (and shocking!). Our families don't necessarily agree with our choice but when the day comes, it's all about my DH and I and I can't think of a better surprise in the world....
Just remember, smile and nod. Everyone has an opinion.
We're planning to do a sex reveal at the shower. I'm hoping to have the ultrasound tech place the sex in an envelope and either
a. find out when I can't stand to wait anymore and keep it secret until birth or
b. bring the envelope to the shower to play the following game: take bets in a jar and raffle off the winning sex to one of the guests (keeping the losing jar)
besides it's not like they don't sell sex neutral clothes and I would imagine having more fun picking out our baby's clothes
its our first experience and I get to do what I want
Team green here! I've gotten many different reactions to our choice, ranging from "Oh! I wish I had been strong enough to do that with my LO" To "What? Why would you want to do that!?"
MIL is acting like we're doing it on purpose just to be mean to her. Well I guess she's not letting us get the better of her so she's out buying clothes for BOTH sexes. lol. I swear our LO will have basket loads of clothes from MIL even without her knowing what it is.
I feel it's a "surprise" whether you find out at 20 weeks or when the baby is born. For that reason, it will be a surprise for me at my 20 week u/s. We may however, keep it to ourselves to encourage people to get us items from our registry that are more practical than cute clothes. Haven't made a definite decision there yet.
I respect everyone's decisions though. It's each preggers decision to make!
This exactly!! We have some friends/family members who are making a big deal about it, but they'll come around. They don't really have a choice
Team Green here too. I just don't feel like everything in our life needs to be planned out ahead of time, just because we have the luxury of technology. I'm grateful we have the ability to see our LO while they are growing and check for health or development issues, but this is one area that I'm going to forget technology exists, and savor in the moment of surprise at birth, and anticipation for what we may be blessed with over the next 6 months.
We can't change it anyhow, so for us, knowing early doesn't make any difference. Its also our first, so boy or girl, we'll be thrilled regardless when they arrive.
