My RE's office is monitoring me on Femara and also is doing our first IUI this month. On the schedule they gave me, it said to begin OPK testing on Day 12 and that ANY color change in the test line is a positive surge.
I took an OPK test and did have a VERY faint line. I'm a little conflicted on whether or not to call and leave a message on the RE's "surge phone line". Any thoughts on this? I know it is hard for y'all to know without a photo of the OPK test, but I thought maybe someone else may have had a similar experience.
Re: LH surge question
What do they mean by "color change?" I mean I get faint lines almost all the time with OPK's, there is never just one line for me, but that is not a surge. I am only surging when the test line is equal to or darker than the control line. So a faint line, in my opinion, is not positive (as per the directions on the test box as well). Like I said, mine would be that way every day.
Maybe you should pick up some digitals, they are expensive, but when in doubt you could use them as back up. You know, PIAC and then use a regular test and if you think it's positive or aren't sure, you can test with the digital to be sure.
Maybe you should also call them for clarification to be sure. Good luck!!
Okay thanks. I did find a website with pics and think I am going to wait another day.
Yes they are doing a mid cycle u/s. Tey said once you see any color change at all on the OPK (between day 12-14) it is the start of a surge (they also said to not use the digital OPK's because once those show up, it is too late). The u/s will occur next on day 13, 14, or 15.
I know some of this may not make much sense, but it's on the sheet of paper they gave us.
The 2nd line needs to the Same color OR Darker than test line to be considered postive.
I have a faint line for many days leading up to my true LH surge.
That is what the RE's office is looking for though. The sheet says "Follow OPK kit instructions only on hwo to perform the test, not on reading the results. Remember any color change in the test line is a positive surge. Call surge line (phone #) that night and plan to be seen in office the next morning."
I will OPK test again tonight and will just go in to the office tomorrow (Mon) regardless. Thanks to you and PP for the advice. This is all a little confusing to me.
Hey! I bet you're with my same RE! I'm with the ART fertility program at Brookwood in Bham. Yes, you're right. The sheet they give us does say to call even with the faintest of lines to catch the beginning of your surge. I would call and just ask about it. They may want to see you in the morning anyway. Since we are in the same area, PM me if you wanna talk!
